Just spent 2 hours at the gym in preparation for some serious feasting tomorrow. I feel great!
I was looking into treadmills earlier in the year, and never got one. Dad said I could start looking again! So I'll definitely be working off not only the Thanksgiving/Christmas meals, but also that "winter weight" that everyone mysteriously accumulates over the course of 3-5 months.

No coffee for me. I'm at work, but fortunately I left a backup battery for me to use today - Moser Roth 85% cocoa. :D Currently installing backup battery... Okay, all systems online.

I am positive that the boss today is negative. She does not want to be here, she makes it clear she does not want to be here and she's getting snippy with all the employees here. What she does not take into account is we VOLUNTEERED to be here today... You're welcome, you old bat.

Is it possible to be an old bat before you're old? She's only a few years older than I, but she's already an old bat.

Oh well. I'm getting paid 25 cents more per hour for the time I work today. And she hasn't gotten snippy with me personally. At least not yet.

I got to chum up with 27 of my relatives tonight.

Too bad the other 26 didn't show. But that's okay. ^_^

Yay for (munch) family coming over! This time of year is (munch) particularly good for my family because we like to get together (munch) for family dinners, and just (munch) hang out afterward.

Yay for (munch) all the food at a family dinner! There was chicken and dressing, potato (munch) salad, deviled eggs, black-eyed peas, green beans, coleslaw, turkey, three (munch) kinds of desserts, duck dressing, and probably some stuff I forgot by now.

And last (and the reason I'm munching) yay for leftovers!

Your munching makes me sad, because I didn't get any of that. :( Being alone on Thanksgiving because you can't afford to visit family, and not knowing how to cook a turkey on your own. (Not to mention cooking a whole one for just two people seems excessive) is sad.

BUT... Since is is supposed to be the happy positivity thread, I'm happy that I do have a wonderful husband and food in my house, even if it wasn't a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. I'm also happy that my ridiculous kitty Poppy makes me laugh so much because she's begging for attention when she's clearly plenty spoiled already.

Take it from a fellow feline, kitties never get enough attention. Pick the poor thing up and pet her.

In other news... yay for leftover homemade carrot cake! I'd send you a piece, but it would gum up the modem something terrible.

In years when it was just my folks and myself sometimes Mom would just get a turkey breast rather than a whole bird, otherwise my folks would be eating leftover turkey for months. Doing a breast by itself is pretty easy, just put it in a baking pan covered in foil and bake at 350 'til the center is 160. Walmart has some pretty nice digital thermometers that beep at you when it's reaching the set temperature.

This is what I did the first Thanksgiving after I got married- we couldn't make it home either, and cooking....yeahno. So I just got the smallest turkey breast I could find, some instant mashed potatoes, a stuffing mix...it was pretty easy and cost less than 15 bucks :)
I know it's not the same as being with everyone and having the food you're used to but it's better than nothing:)

We decided to do something like that today. We got a boneless turkey roast and stuck it in the crock pot with some cream of mushroom soup and some cheddar cheese soup... (Some super simple recipe that Devon found online) let it cook all day and then this evening we just made a box of instant stuffing mix and ate that. It was salty, but at least it was turkey and it worked out.

Still, I miss family. Especially Gramma.
