How long have you been single?

Are you enjoying being single?

Is there any prayer or encouragement you'd like to receive here?

Are you currently praying that God leads you to the person you're meant for? Or are you enjoying this time to get closer to Him?

My answers:

I've only been single (this time) about 2 weeks. I'm enjoying it thoroughly! My prayer request would be that God helps me learn from my mistakes, shines light on the areas of my life which could use improvement, and, when the time is right, brings the RIGHT man into my life. Not the one who is the most convenient or best by the world's standards.

Long time.

Yes love it.

No, but God gives the desires of your heart. I thank God for that verse, As that verse I'm happy to claim, because im happy to be single for ever.

and another verse is good. 1 Corinthians 7:8 To the unmarried and the widows I say that it is good for them to remain single as I am.

But I want you to be free from concern. One who is unmarried is concerned about the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord; but one who is married is concerned about the things of the world, how he may please his wife, and his interests are divided...This I say for your own benefit; not to put a restraint upon you, but to promote what is appropriate and to secure undistracted devotion to the Lord. (1 Corinthians 7:32-35
I am at a point where I am all for fellowship and even companionship, but feel that being beholden to another in any romantic nature may not be for me. 'Alone time' is valuable. :)

I pray that your heart and mind align with God's will as best as they can, hannahbeth, and that whatever you seek that is good be delivered to you in the time and place He desires for you.

How long have you been single?
Always. Loner might be a more accurate term than single.

Are you enjoying being single?
Better than any alternative that has presented itself so far.

Is there any prayer or encouragement you'd like to receive here?
I'm just here to make witty comments. And maybe to have a reminder that there are some good godly men out there and I'm not the only person crazy enough to follow God's way.

Are you currently praying that God leads you to the person you're meant for? Or are you enjoying this time to get closer to Him?
Ummm…. currently thinking about asking if God ever intends for me to marry, but not sure I'm really ready to know the answer yet. Also praying for some guys I know and care for who could use prayer and encouragement to become even better men of God. Also praying for friends who are serving God overseas. Oh and also wanting to find a way to make prayers much more specific so that when God answers it's clear and measurable instead of a matter of interoperation of events. And also, I really should do more praying than I do. Can't say my prayer life is great right now.

Glad to meet you, brother. :) I think it's wonderful that you want to improve your prayer life. I think we all could use some of that. I would like to pray for you and for your friends, if that's alright with you. :) Thanks for answering! I wish I were strong enough in my past to stay single so long! It's great to be alone and draw closer to Him.

How long have you been single?
Quite fuzzy. Officially since 4 months. But I haven't gotten over her completely.

Are you enjoying being single?
Absolutely. I did enjoy the relationship and it was a perfect one. But I also enjoy my present state of being single.

Is there any prayer or encouragement you'd like to receive here?

This breakup came at the right time. God is calling me to draw closer to Him and I am witnessing it through the things He is doing in my life, everyday. Plus, it's a good time for me to think about what's the next step I would like to take in my career and in my personal life. So I am using this time to set my life in order and to get closer to God. :)

All prayers for grace and strength will be appreciated. :)

You know, I haven't really thought about it recently. I guess it's been about 9 months now...

Yeah... I mean, life is life regardless of how/which details mix and match at a given point. There are things I've really enjoyed or not so much about being in a romantic relationship, and the same is true for not being in one. A lot of the time...things are what you make them.

Well, I have prayed that before, and there are certainly A lot of OTHER people praying that for me. I've had my heart broken and been around the block so many times now, though, that I'm simply willing (or beaten down enough, lol) to accept whatever comes. I'm not hunting for a life-mate as I once was, but also haven't given up on it all as I once did. I'm just trying to learn what Paul was talking about in being content in all circumstances, no matter the mechanics.

As for enjoying time and growing closer, with God's help. I'm learning and trying. It's a work-in-progress, and some days are better than others.

I'll put the prayer and encouragement last, and yes please. I covet your prayers... Whether they be for strength or wisdom or joy...for growth or rest or healing....for challenges and trails and effectiveness in ministry...for God's plan in my life and the Kingdom to be brought about in my life and around me on Earth asin Heaven... Whatever you want, I'll be happy and blessed to receive. Prayer is vital to so many things... I don't think we really even realize just what it is, and how important, and how much God is always willing to have us pray and be with us than we are to pray or spend time with Him.

Thanks for asking. ^_^ Welcome to CC, btw. You're awesome, and I hope you enjoy it here!

I've been single...eh roughly 3 years to six months depending on how you look at it.

Do I enjoy it? Yes if you go by the 3 years measurement, not so much by the six month one.

I've been doing well lately though. So now immediate prayer requests.

Though meeting someone worth spending a life with would be nice.

I think I've currently been single for.....6 months. It's not normal actually for me to be single such a short amount of time, the last boyfriend I had before that I was single after him for like 5 years.

I deal with it. It'd be nice to have someone with me as a companion, but at the moment I'm content to be with just me and my family.

If I were to be totally honest, encouragement from someone else who is overweight that has found love. Will people judge me just on my appearance forever?

Mostly I pray that I would be ready for him and him for me. And I pray something that our pastor always said, "Pray that you don't give your heart away before God does." Sadly I don't feel like I'm close as I should be to the Lord, and school doesn't help.

I'll pray that He brings you close to Him and shows you His will in your life. :)

I'm loving all of these responses! And you'll all be in my prayers.

I say its better to be alone than with the wrong person....there is a simplicity in being single that I really like and a fellowship with the Lord that is special...but still there is a hope that the special girl will appear at some point :p

How long have you been single?
Almost a year now. I will likely be single for quite some time.

Are you enjoying being single?
As with most things in life, it's a mixed bag.

On one hand it's nicer. I have more time to invest in myself, my family, and my friends. I get much more reading done.

One of the authors I level with most is Augustine when he described his sensuous youth. How his actions that seemed sweet at the time put him in snares of guilt that he tried to free himself from. He found single hood preferable to that phase though it seemed so nice at the time.

I understand that now. I wouldn't lie though if I didn't say that being single is a tough way to pay for that lesson. Man was not meant to be alone. Since I'm a man now, my understanding of that passage has a whole new meaning.

So I will walk in the Lord and enjoy the liberty he has given me. I'll continue to seek out a relationship, but that isn't my total focus. As Cromwell said, trust in the Lord and keep your powder dry.

Oh my gosh, that's the second time I've named dropped. I swear I have original thoughts!

Is there any prayer or encouragement you'd like to receive here?
Prayer is always welcome. I think my prayer is the same as most of the single-people's in here. Pray I make my election sure.

Are you currently praying that God leads you to the person you're meant for? Or are you enjoying this time to get closer to Him?.
I don't see the two prayers as mutually exclusive. I pray I grow closer to Him and that he brings women in my path that will take my hand on the same journey.

How long have you been single?

I've been alone for 3 years now. Legally single for 2.

Are you enjoying being single?

It wasn't the life I'd have ever chosen or expected, but God has blessed me so much and I am very much enjoying the simple freedoms of being single.

Is there any prayer or encouragement you'd like to receive here?

What a great question! But no... I seem to be doing really well and don't have any specific issues that need prayer at the moment. :)

Are you currently praying that God leads you to the person you're meant for? Or are you enjoying this time to get closer to Him?

I'm currently enjoying my singleness, concentrating on raising my teenagers, growing in the Lord and learning more about myself in the process.
