Some threads are built around discussing a Bible topic, others are built around reading a book together. Let's try a variation. (Prepare for thread flop in 3....2....1...*crash n burn*)

This is a free style read and share thread.

The object?

Share something with us from a book, magazine, blog, flyer, you're reading.

Tell us the title, maybe where you're at in the reading material, and then your thoughts.

You get extra credit if you take a photo of the text, and super extra credit if you highlight...

I found this old book that I'm currently flipping through, by Bradford Smith "Why We Behave Like Americans", it is a withdrawn book from the Palisades Branch Library in Los Angeles. It was written back in 1957, and on page 97 he's writing:

"Americans are a peculiar people. They work like mad, then give away much of what they earn. They play until they are exhausted, and call this a vacation. They love to think of themselves as toughminded businessmen (1957, right...lol), yet they are push-overs for any hard luck story. They have the biggest of nearly everything including government, motor cars and debts (guess that never has changed), yet they are afraid of bigness. They are always trying to chip away at big government, big business, big unions, big influence. They like to think of themselves as little people, average men, and they would like to cut everything down to their own size. Yet they boast of their tall buildings, high mountains (lol, highest mountain in ms. is 807 ft.), long rivers (now that is correct), big meals. Theirs is the best family, the best neighborhood, the best state (yep), the best country, the best world, the best heaven..."

I'm just lovin this book...

I'm reading something called 30 days to a better man, written by Brett McKay.

Its basically a 30 day guide to re-grounding oneself.

Its meant to be read a chapter a day, with each containing its own assignments. Like a purpose driven snorkel only, its not a terrible book.
