Okay, now I know this is a super weird poll. But, I'm curious.

One of my best friends and my sister both think it's crazy that I shower every night. They sometimes go at least a day or two without showering.

I've started making myself not shower every night, if only to save on my utilities bill and save time. My hair does not get oily so I don't have to worry about that. I just like the feeling of being clean before I go to bed, and I like showers because of smell-good soaps and hot water. I can't stand going to bed feeling dirty, especially if my feet feel dirty, and sometimes it even keeps me from falling asleep as fast.

I know, strange.

So. Yeah.

I shower at whatever time during the day that I can guarantee a full five minutes all to myself. Some days I manage as much as 15 minutes.

I think it depends a lot on where you live. I hear brits think we're crazy for bathing every day. It also depends on your specific body and hair type.

Personally I shower once every other day. If I don't my hair gets so oily that you could lean me over a car and fill up the oil pan from my head. If I take a shower every day my hair starts feeling dried out. Of course this changes if I'm mowing the yard on a dusty day, if there was an oil spill all over me at work, etc. and I need a shower on an off day.

This story is probably apocryphal, but I heard of a groundskeeper of a boys' school in Britain who objected to the addition of showers in the boys' dorms, because the boys would only be there for three months. (Now our friends from across the pond are going to get on my case... no I'm not saying people in Britain are nasty. It was a story, and probably not a true one. But it fit in this thread.)

I will say this is a weird poll, but taking a shower daily is depending on what I did that day and what I have to do the next. Like if I am helping my parents remodel, I won't shower that night because I know I will get just as dirty or more the next day. I don't have oily skin or hair, like I used too, but I shower every other day unless I have to be somewhere the next day and if I am not feeling well, as a shower helps clear my head.

I don't really have a set time, and I don't shower every day. I used to shower in the mornings, but I decided to switch it to nights due to church. I have to get up early and I decided that showering at night would be easier. During the Summer I showered just about every day. Those summers make you feel nasty. But this winter, my hair has been crazy dry. So it's not always needed, though I will take a shower anyways because it helps warm me up. Plus I do like the sense of just washing the day off and then heading off to sleep.

It's pretty much my norm to shower every day in the evening. Most of my jobs over the years have been outdoor jobs where a man gets downright dirty, so it became a habit to shower every night.

Whenever I feel dirty.... and I've determined that soap and water applied to my body, would be an effective course of action to rid me of that feeling.

But I'm weird like that.

Every night. Sometimes also during the day if I had a busy morning and I'm going somewhere else afterwards, though if I washed my hair the night before I will only wash my body, but not my hair.

I just wait for a good rain storm to pass by.

It's economical AND environmentally sound.

And if it's only sprinkling outside, well, that counts as a good sponge bath.

(Ok, ok, I shower every single night. Sometimes more if the weather is really hot and humid. I just like feeling clean, and I can't do anything with my hair unless it's dry. I'm fairly low-maintenance and don't have the patience for a hairdryer, so I just shower at night and let the air-drying do its thing.)

I find that my hair gets super greasy really quickly, so I feel super grungy if I go more than 24 hours without a shower. It usually ends up being in the morning for me, though, but sometimes I like to take a comfort shower just to warm up haha.

Also, I just realized that I share that honorable quality with gypsygirl of using "super" as a favorite adjective :)

I have to shower in the morning because I have oily hair. If I shower before I go to bed at night I still have to shower in the morning. We all have things to put up with, I have oily hair, I hate it. I'm afraid to sweat in the summer cause it makes my bangs look oily. I'm also afraid to sweat in my shoes because from then on they stink and I have to buy new shoes. I like to be really really clean, so this is a real concern for me.

Night because it's one less thing I have to do in the morning. I hate having to go to work so I want to have more time in the morning to enjoy my coffee rather than rush around. Plus my shoulders hurt so bad after sitting at a computer all day I need the hot water to relax them so I can sleep.

So. Yeah.

not strange. actually rachel, i'm the exactly same. i also prefer to take a shower in the eve/night sometime before bed, which usually tends to coincide with post-workout. but if i skip working out, or do it earlier in the day, i always take another quick shower before bedtime. as you said, it feels good to sleep after a shower, and i've discovered, it also helps me go to sleep, something scientifically backed up.

so technically, i shower at least twice, as i always take one in the morning when i first get up too. that shower is when i wash my hair, and i can't really get going in the a.m. without it.

oh, and considering i'm entirely about the good-smelly stuff, i'm pretty sure i have the same bath soap/gel obsession, and mostly obsessed with l'occitane en provence verbena, honey, and linden shower gels and soaps currently. i like to have a few flavors going because i like a little variety. i know, it's pretty silly. but it makes me oh-so-happy. : )
