sorry to bring this up but people have told me that i am a 'beautiful person'

and that that is the way god intended,

but i think god didn't intend me to put on weight, i think this was unintentional

and that god intended me to be a healthy weight, slim and fit.

God willing i can get that fitness back,

Dust we are and to dust we will return. Don't be so concerned about your physical appearance; God is mostly interested in our spiritual health. I've even found that working on inner fitness causes the body to follow suit somewhat.

I have always struggled with my weight, but I have also lost it and gained it back. Right now I have lost about ten pounds and need to lose more. I think God intended all of us to take care of ourselves. I mainly put on some weight since my grandpa passed away and other family issues because of stress and I am learning how not to allow stress to affect me. God loves you for who you are because he created you and God did not create us to feel bad by how we look because he loves everything about us.

God didn't intend for anyone to put on excess weight. Fat was necessary during ancient times when people had to hunt for food. Fat is reserved energy stored in the body (google it if anyone doesn't believe me). This allowed people to survive times of famine. Excess fat causes many problems (beleive me, I know!) and is a by-product of modern times (easy access to food, large portion sizes, sedentary lifestyles, etc...). Of course there is the exception of people with underactive thyroid, but that is a medical condition.

I went from 200+ lbs to 138 lbs by following these tips:

1) Eat only when hungry - food is merely fuel for the body
2) Never eat to the point of being full - there is a difference between "full" and "no longer hungry"
3) Go to bed hungry - the metabolism slows down when the body is asleep
4) Stay away from diet pills - they may help you lose weight but they're not beneficial in the long run
5) If you want to lose the weight for life you must change your diet for life - you can never go back to your old eating habits because they are the reason for being overweight.
6) exercise more - I walk on average 3 - 4 miles per day

This will require some work on your part. But, with God all things are possible.

My personal habits:

My diet consists of animals that chew the cud and have split hooves, fish that have scales and fins, fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts and water - mostly the last five items. I know some people say we are no longer required to adhere to the food laws listed in Leviticus, but following those laws helped me lose weight and become healthier.

I'm 51 years old, I have no medical problems and am on no medications. My blood pressure is 110 over 78 and I weigh 138 pounds at 5' 6" tall.

Hi, Felice!

I don´t know how you had problems with selfesteem but, the outside could be matched with the inner man and I felt you are a nice person, even one of those who are around (your likings or expectations) have not noticed properly (and could be good for you!).

Let me tell you a lesson I learned (from a missionary who was fat and wanted the GF I had those days).

In briefing my story, let me tell you I wasn´t the man Tere wanted for her. She was bored to live poorly and I had nothing better to offer her... So we ended it up.

The missionery asked me way we finished, he wanted to know if something went too wrong (a good this he did for his emotional safety) and progressively he lost way. He bought a new car and improved himself going to a gym...

After he changed, he got what he wanted. They happily married (and got children) and she probably realized her dreams too, because she got her visa and moved abroad.

:)

Wow congratulations! That's a great testimony.

For the OP, pray to the Lord to help you lose weight. Watch what you eat. I know from experience that weight loss is pretty much 80% diet and 20% exercise. Meaning, if you change only your diet, you would see better results than if you were to just work out. But of course it's best to do them both. Start small. Maybe walk 15 minutes a day. Then eat less. Count calories. I count them and it has saved me a lot of pain from guessing. I have a food scale and I suggest you get one too. Mine was like $15 at Wal-Mart :)
God bless and I hope you can lose the weight that you need. Remember to seek the Lord about this.

Hope this helps:)

Isaiah 61:1-3
[SUP]1[/SUP]The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me;
because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek;
he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
[SUP]2 [/SUP]to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,
and the day of vengeance of our God;
to comfort all that mourn;
[SUP]3 [/SUP]to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion,
to give unto them beauty for ashes,

the oil of joy for mourning,
the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
that they might be called trees of righteousness,
the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.

Judges 8:18
[SUP]18 [/SUP]Then said he unto Zebah and Zalmunna, What manner of men were they whom ye slew at Tabor? And they answered, As thou art, so were they; each one resembled the children of a king.

Ouch...

It can come off that way, but he may also be horribly insecure. Let's not risk the latter to prove a point if it's the former. It'll become apparent soon enough.

Meanwhile there have been some good testimonies here about weight loss, I'll share mine.

I'm too heavy myself. I need to drop about 40 lbs to be where I really want to be. Last year I worked out all year and lost 10 pounds.

You see, in the process of losing weight I discovered I loved lifting weights even better than starving my body so I couldn't lift them as intensely. I do live on a calorie deficit, but it's a small one. My goals are a simple 1/2 pound a week for the next 18 months or so.

Health has already improved, the weight will drop when it drops.

It's not a great testimony, but really just find something that you enjoy doing that keeps you active, and do it. You'll be healthy if nothing else.

I know how it feels. People keep on pointing that I need to lose weight. My biggest insecurity is my cheeks, no matter how hard i try to lose weight,my cheeks will still look big. Right now, I'm trying to lose weight by cutting off my rice and sugar intake plus working out every now and then.

Hmmm!

Conversely:

Just imagine a man, like me, old, too old, and eager to remove years from his life to look young, dateable and attractive...

Don´t old people people feel rejection for being old, in the outside?

The same rejection is felt by those who are fat, ugly, poor, etc.

You can name the rejection (and low selfesteem) you are suffering.
