That's all great and everything, buuuut he diiiiid ask us what our opinion is of his whole mindset. We've all simply given our answer. And the fact that his particular mindset seems like it could translate into the way he treats people on this forum (aka "Women can't post in my threads"), it's at least a little bit of an issue. No one is making a big deal out of it and there is no need for that for sure, but if someone asks for an opinion and there is something there that warrants concern, why not let that be known? I think the answers that have been given were done so out of a heart of wanting him to have healthy interactions and community with all of the people in his life.
Chandlerfan,

I agree with you, and I wasn't trying to be offensive.

Usually when people are hurt, and don't want to interact with the opposite sex, that has a way of taking care of itself in time. We have a natural proclivity toward the opposite sex, which will eventually assert itself.

However, someone who is hurt CAN get back into relationships later, without ever really healing properly.
This scenario is also real, and fairly common.

So we certainly do need to be compassionate, and help people with the healing process when they've been hurt.

I think we have a lot of compassionate people around CC who are a real blessing, and who are very gifted in helping others to heal.

Whether it's "wrong" or not is up for you to decide for yourself. I don't think there is a one-size-fits-all, objective answer to that.
If you don't have peace with it, perhaps it's not as logical as you'd like to presume.

My friend says that's a bitter attitude(...)
Well is it? I mean are you bitter?

That is true. I think we have a tendency sometimes to swing our pendulum a little too far one direction but it does get corrected in time.

Yeah, we definitely do have a lot of compassionate people woven in amongst all the crazies here :)

I read this today and it seemed pertinent to this thread:

"Never ask another person's advice about anything God makes you decide before Him." Aka if God has already given you an answer on the matter, there's no need to go seeking wisdom elsewhere.

Aye. And there's no need to pray about what God has already outlined in the Bible. One reason why reading the Bible is so important. ;)
