So I have observed there are a lot of different countries represented just in this Singles sub-forum. Maybe you have a question about life in another country. Well, this is the thread for it. Ever wonder what they eat in India or how life is going in Israel? Maybe ask if that rumor you heard is true? Ask away.

NOTE: There will probably be some stereotypes mentioned. Please be cool about it if someone mentiones a stereotype they heard about your area. We probably haven't been there ourselves, so we only know what we've heard. That's why we're asking. ;)

I'll take care of some common stereotypes about where I live right off the bat: No, americans are not all fat, obnoxious loud-mouths who like shotguns and hamburgers. Yes, here in the southeast of the USA we do in fact deep fry everything. For lunch yesterday I had deep fried catfish, deep fried green beans and deep fried potato wedges. And it was GOOOOOOOOD!

Question: In Israel do they really stick slips of paper in the "Wailing Wall" with their prayer requests? How does that serve as prayer, how do they believe their needs will be answered that way, how did it get started? And who cleans up those slips of paper? Do they just stay there until they decompose?

Oh yeah, I forgot one... What does McDonald's serve in India? I can't imagine they would serve hamburgers there, but chicken can't take the place of EVERYTHING beef on their menu.

Yes they do. Because of stuff that I don't really understand (i.e. there's a sign on the way up from the wailing wall that says the rabbis have decreed the temple mount contaminated or defiled or something because now the muslim shrine is there and so Jews shouldn't go there, but I don't think the muslims in Jerusalem would take too kindly to Jews going up there anyway) the wall is the closest that Jews can get to the foundation stone, the stone where Abraham supposedly offered Isaac and kind of the closest thing to a physical place that can house the presence of God for them now. The wall actually extends under the muslim section of the city and there's a tunnel tour you can take and you see a whole little hole in the wall I guess that is filled with such papers because that is the closest point to the aforementioned stone.

Why do certain Asian cultures eat 18 times a day?
My Mother, who is from Thailand-- will not give me a straight answer.

I live in Vegas.
"Sin City"
Where the whole world wants to vacation at??

A heads up: It is nothing like how the movies and TV portray it.

There is plenty to do out here that does not involve going down to the The Strip.
Although,... there are slot machines everywhere......even in gas stations. :(

The whole world minus one wants to vacation there. I would rather go to a little log cabin in the woods on a mountain somewhere.
