What is wrong with the quote mechanism?
Seems to work fine from here. Maybe close and restart your browser? In this forum sometimes the ENTER key stops registering for me. I hit ENTER, there are lines between what I type, but when I hit Post it all runs together in one big honking paragraph. A browser restart fixes the problem.

Maybe it's because this thing is all flash based? I dunno.

But there are no degrees of sin, right? I mean one can go to hell for telling a simple lie or if they envy their neighbor's new car, or if a man simply looks at another woman with lust, right?

I guess in a way, I actually miss the BDF. :p
But there are no degrees of sin, right? Wrong. There are degrees/levels.

I mean one can go to hell for telling a simple lie or if they envy their neighbor's new car, or if a man simply looks at another woman with lust, right? Right. In the sense that the wages of sin is death, all sin is dangerous.

why do some people quickly begin complaining (about this forum turning into the BD forum) whenever an actual multi-position discussion is taking place, such as being supported with scripture? as a christian, i don't really ever find appropriate use of scripture to be out of place (or unwelcome).

i simply don't understand.

one of the things that attracted me to the cc singles forum is that we could have meaningful discussion, utilizing scripture where those of differing views were allowed to express their opinion.

it really makes me wonder exactly what kind of discussion those who criticize such interactions expect? nothing but playful threads/posts and games?

why is it we can't have a discussion, especially one where an OP is seeking information in earnest that gets attacked and criticized?

it doesn't exactly engender hospitality and healthy discussion, does it?

How is having tattoos or piercings any different than having a certain hairstyle, or a particular hat, or fancy shoes, or grungy clothes, or bling, or no jewelry at all? Seriously, no matter if you dress to impress or dress not to impress, we are all making a statement.

Thank goodness the Word instructs us not to judge the flesh. II Corinthians 5:16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view (from the flesh). Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer.

Yeah, I think we are all well aware that other subforums on the site (and one in particular) are rather difficult to have reasonable discussion in, but I think we have beaten the dead horse to a pulp at this point. Any serious biblical discussion in Singles is normally going to attract someone who is a poor communicator or who has really extreme views, but I haven't seen that be the case in this thread yet actually.

Now onto the thread topic...

Because tattoos have to do with defiling the body which is the temple of the Holy Spirit (that's the story I'm sticking to anyway..).

God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple.
(1 Corinthians 3:17 NIV)

Yes... the BDF is here! Enjoy! :)
Yes, PURITY.. As in.. don't contaminate it by injecting it with ink.
I would submit here that you are reading subjectively into the text what is not objectively there. Unless there is somewhere that you can biblically show that getting a tattoo is a defilement of the body.

For the sake of balance, though, I have a lot I could say on the "Avoid tattoos" end of the spectrum, but because it's late I will save that for later. I will say, though, that I don't plan on ever getting a tattoo myself because I think I would get tired of it eventually. So there's that.

gypsygirl: In some cases we probably do call "BDF!" too quickly. In this thread it seems more like zeroturbulence was making a humorous observation about his own tendencies than a comment about the thread in general. Or at least that's how I read it.

"Bible Discussion Forum" has become the new "Crying 'Wolf!'" here in Singles...

I don't get the point of piercings.. I've heard of men and women piercing their private parts, and all I can say to that is "ouch"!! And what's the point of piercing your bellybutton? To prove you have one? LOL..

I just wonder if someone got caught up in the meme and actually got a left shark tattoo... and will regret it the rest of his life.

All I can say is... SNAG RISK.

Not worth the risk, not worth it by a long shot.
