Being in a wrong relationship is worse than not being in one at all. And sometimes you still end up lonely in a bad relationship. Doing what you believe is right isn't always easy, but it much more rewarding in the long run.
And perhaps this reliance on others is the problem in itself. Learning to lean more on God than another person may be what God is calling you to do. You should still find relationship in God and in friendship. If this is not enough to sustain you and keep you out of bad relationships then you probably aren't ready anyways.

Pray about this. I know it's hard, but just give yourself and your boyfriend to the Lord. Who would you trust more than Him with your love life? Let Him take the wheel and enjoy the ride.
If you feel that you need to break up with this man, then pray about it and the Lord will give you an answer.
Try to find peace and comfort in the Lord and focus on your relationship with him. I've always heard that Jesus wants us satisfied in him first and once we do that, we end up finding a life partner. So don't go off looking for love, when the best love is already there with you If you are meant to be married Jesus will send him to you. If not, then you still have the Lord. Be happy and satisfied in him.
