Smack dab in the middle of some nice national park with lots of hiking trails and very few people. I get to bring along my own trail mix and water and get magically transported out and back to normal life at the end of the day, right?

Several years ago I was able to visit both the Eiffel Tower and the Vatican. The Eiffel Tower is beautiful but in some ways, standing at the top of a very high piece of architecture can all look the same in a way (I've also been the to top of the forever-in-my-heart SEARS Tower in Chicago and to the top of the Space Needle in Seattle.)
The Vatican was gorgeous but unfortunately, a good part of the museum was closed for maintenance and we ran into a rather rude staff member when asking about St. Peter's Basilica. I was thrilled to see Michelangelo's Pieta, and of course, the Sistine Chapel, which were things I'd always wanted to see. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to travel overseas since then.
Lynx, I'll have to contest your views on Disney just a bit.
I went last year and it's still amazing, albeit insanely expensive, yes. But I went to both Disney and Universal Studios and they are each incredible in their own way. I even got to eat at the new Be Our Guest restaurant (the castle from Beauty and the Beast.) Fortunately, I was there long enough to get a resident's deal on a 4-day ticket for $160 ($40 per day, and I had something like 4 months to use up my days.) Someday if I ever find myself in FL more permanently and close to the Mousey Wonderland, I would love to get a season pass.
People have told me I'm boring my entire life but what they don't realize is that I save my money and then go to an amazing place once every few years.
For anyone who has a place they'd like to visit, I would suggest the magic of YouTube. It's amazing what people post nowadays and even though it's not the same as being there, you can almost "see" and experience nearly any place you want to visit. I'll probably never make it to the Disney Sea park in Tokyo, but I've "walked around" and "been on" several of the rides via YouTube videos. Check out the Disney site for anything you want to see, and then look for a video of the ride or place you're interested in on YouTube. It's second-best to being there... and doesn't cost more than your internet connection.

Thanks for asking. I've been thinking about it and I'm not sure. I'd like to go somewhere that has pristine beaches and not too many people, but also has beautiful modern resorts and hospitable locals. I know Maui fits that description perfectly but I've already been there more than once. I'd want to go someplace I've never been before.
