yes, good example (and i think found in GOD'S WORD several times).

self-indulgence in place of obedience is called idolatry. with the penalty for idolatry.

living the strict life required by GOD'S instructions, is rare, and few find it. people love the world and the

things of the world too much. if they keep doing that, they are not and cannot be a friend of GOD , as it

IS WRITTEN IN HIS WORD. (he doesn't go easy on those who love the world or the things of the world - his
judgment is perfect, sure, and complete).

Is there an example in Scripture where someone was disobedient to God and it worked out well for them?

Is there a lesson to be learned from this?

It's never gone well for them.

Just look at poor Jonah - all that moaning until he finally did what he was told.

I read a sermon once in which I thought the pastor said something profound about obeying the flesh vs. spiritual things.

He said: "If you can't even resist a hamburger, how are you going to be able to resist a devil that's trying to kill you?"

I know I certainly felt convicted!

Hi ServantStrike; I would like to share that you speak of Jonah as if it about someone else. When Jesus spoke the words, "This wicked generation" His reference was and is to everyone who comes in ear shot of Him. Whether the language seems to be pointed towards His disciples (of whom we are counted), Pharisees, scribes and more; It is first and lastly spoken to each and every one of us. One easily identifyable example is when Jesus spoke of what was on a Pharisee's heart when he said, "God, I'm glad I'm not like him." Christ's reference is towards each and every one of us; even from a staunch religious person, of which all can be counted among. Jesus speaks to specific natures; in this case Pharisees, which can be found within each of us. But because we don't see the hearts and minds of men (except ourselves personally), it isn't that difficult a stretch to say that nature is within each of us. No christian can hide from this teaching because Jesus knows the hearts and minds of men, personally. To use creation language in the story of Jonah; He was given instructions to give witness of God's wrath, to repent. But because in his heart, Johan saw them as a wicked people not worthy, he turned away and became like the people he disposed; Jonah did not do as God commanded. It is this way of thinking, becoming like the people we learn to hate, that devoured Jonah. It wasn't until Jonah repented and made a straight path to Ninevah and gave witness that he did as God commanded. When Jesus made reference to 'The only sign given to this wicked generation is the sign of Jonah' you know in your heart and mind He was speaking to you and I. More creation language; The nature of the great fish which wanders as if there is no God over him, was and is found in Jonah, and the reason I spoke of him being devoured by one of the many natures he was to have dominion over; according to each kind. The nature of this 'fish' is spoken of by the prophet Habakkuk ( and others), "God why do you make men like fish of the sea; like creatures who wonder as if they have no ruler over them?" Have you made the connection concerning fish? Jonah began to wonder as if he had no ruler over him, and it was that nature that he had no dominion over that devoured him. The role of having dominion over fish of the sea is reversed in the biblical story of Jonah and you. Yes, even all the way back in Genesis when the command was given to have dominion over the birds of the air, creatures that walk on land, and fish of the sea according to each kind, speak of and to the story of Jonah and the story of our own lives.

So, I probably shouldn't have a picture of myself grilling in my online dating profile?

Dangit. I never look good in photographs, it was one of the few I liked.

Well, the singles forum taught me something today, so that's at least good.

I'm curious as to whether or not knowing that it's a really bad idea to disobey God makes it any easier for all of you out there to just obey right away without question.

So for all of you out there who KNOW it's a bad thing to run from God's call but do it anyway, right away, without question, no matter what the physical, emotional, or monetary cost... How do you do it?
For me, it's not about deciding to obey Him, it is knowing that what I am being asked to do is FROM HIM. Assuring that in fact God is leading me through the Holy Spirit to do/say a certain thing and/or act a certain way. To discern His guidance from the fleshy guidance of the world and it's temptations and those of the deceiver who can appear as an angel.

Once I am certain it is from God, I obey without hesitation. I say hesitation, for even then I may find myself a bit concerned what the end result of this will be for me, but have to put that aside and trust God to assure that my obedience will not be harmful to me in His Master Plan.

Not going to detail just how far I have gone down this path, it's not really anyone's business other than mine and God's. But, I will not hesitate to obey Him if I am convinced it is Him........tried it the other way and suffered greatly for many, many years............. :) There is nothing I have, or hope to have, or once had that has been lost that can ever replace the love of God and the joy of being obedient to Him.

Last night God was telling me to send a friend of mine an email and I kept arguing with him about it because of what he was wanting me to send them. I finally told God fine and humbly listened to him. I can tell you after I did that I felt peaceful and it was the first time I slept well in a few weeks. I just pray they take it well. Have any of you experienced something like this before? If so please share. What is your first thought when God does this?

I enjoy hearing the witness of obedience. Even more so because it was on your heart and not doing these things because law and words of the prophets instructs us to do so. One Old Testament example; A prophet named Jacob gave last will and testament to his sons. These speak of the sequence of things that have and are taking place, leading up to the very point Jesus said, "It is finished" One of those verses reads in the NKJV; "And to Him shall be the obedience of the people. Binding his donkey to the vine, and the foal of the donkey to the choice (True) vine. The way you described your witness is actually the understanding of obedience. No one could fault you for not knowing the law, because you live it and do not know the law except Jesus taught you to Love God with all your heart mind and soul. I love the way you applied your life to the understanding of this thread. Yes, when I understand the things our Heavenly Father teaches, I do them; not because law said I should. I do them because it is in my heart to do them.

I can be a little stubborn at times, when I feel the Lord nudging me to call a family member or friend. I have a family member who I'm not very close to ( a brother) I just felt earlier this week that the Lord wanted me to call him just to say "hello & how are you?" which simply didn't feel like something I wanted to do. Well the entire week has gone by & I finally picked up the phone today to call my brother. He had been very sick with the flue this week, but was feeling better. We ended up having a really nice conversation on the phone, which gave me an incredible peace. I have been praying for family unity for a while & this phone call to my brother was simply the Lord answering my prayer.

Hamburgers get a bad rap. When you break it down its just steak, vegetables (lettuce and tomato), and bread.

If a hamburger is made with lean beef and whole wheat buns, its actually nutritious.

What You Need to Know About The Beef Industry - Homesteading and Livestock - MOTHER EARTH NEWS

there's a few things.... er..... maybe la lot, in the beef that wasn't there before..... and it's dangerous....

"And now there’s mad cow disease, a mysterious disease that is not destroyed by cooking and has been fatal. You could ingest “prions” (abnormal proteins) by eating even a well-done rib roast. These prions infiltrate your brain, perforate it with holes, and cause death in a few years’ time."

I'll continue to eat beef and wild game, that is cooked to my liking. not going to live in 'fear'. If God is going to provide me with good meat to eat, He certainly wouldnt 'contaminate' it with some 'disease' that will 'kill' me... People live in so much Fear, lolz...

I'll take my chances with the prions. Eventually you are going to die from one thing or another. I am a believer in quality of life and not just quantity.

I like cows with anger issues.
They taste good with fries on the side.

If God told you that you were restricted to only consuming happy cows, would you obey?

I was asked to do something and I said to God...... You want me to do what? These people will think I'm crazy....He said to me so what is that to you? Who cares if they think that? They need an opportunity to choose Me and you are giving them one... I said Your right..... So now I don't care what people think because it is not about me.... It's about God and people accepting Jesus as their Savior.

So yes, I have done some strange things and will probably never know the results this side of heaven, but I will be interested to see just how God worked with what little effort I put out....in comparison to what Jesus has done for me and the rest of the world....

PS There are times I have not obeyed and when I look back at my life those are the things I regret not doing.... So I try to obey now.

Ha Ha, you remind me of my pasts, I was total a person whom I call myself a fool, that is why I started with laughing. I remember I was a person who can do whatever to please others and I got total painfully in the end, because they are not satisfied. One day while I was desperate my heart told me to read the bible. Before reading it I asked Holy spirit to guide me throughoully. After I finish reading I find answer to my problem, I hear the voice in my heart which told me, " You know Grace (My name) you are hurt because you love human too much than me, If you love people than me, you will always got hurt, because human never satisfied no matter what you do for them. Now start following me, ignores their demands, ignores their ways then follow mine, you will see". From that day I remember it was in 2009, I fell a happier but I am struggling with my feelings to human, though I love my God but still human suck me.
