So alot of times i hear people always talking about doing better for God. However God demands a contrite and broken spirit. He says He test us like gold to the fire. All gold can do in the fire is melt. In this flesh we are sinners and left to die everyday to ourselves. Youcould be making right choices for 4 years and make a single wrong choice and die in that choice. Let go of your flesh. God calls us to be free and to know we are sinners and to let go of this flesh. You are not a good person and your right choices are still selfish and fall short of the glory of God. Fall to your knees and beg Gods mercy and ask Him to save you from this wicked body of death. The only true right choices you can make in life are the choices God give you stregnth and then its actually Him making those right choices

Hmm... part right and part wrong. I'll reply to the part that was right.

If you'll notice, when the Israelites wanted a king God gave them one. But the only really successful kings were the ones who gave control back to God. The kings who tried to do it their own way didn't fare so well.

Well from what i have noticed no one fare well when it came to following God. It was almost like obedience was a natural reaction towards the grace of God. Only when these men emptied themselves of self worth God filled them with His worth. And failure and wrong choices brought this work of God. So as God is the potter i am the clay and i cant be anything other then what God molds me to be at the time i am. So it seems to me that always striving to be better for God is another form of self worth and accomplishment and leaves us prideful
