Astrology and Christians do they correlated or diverge?

I am open minded person, so most of time I try to go with what is best and how my heart and mind interpret. I have come across about this astrology things and find out some do not I understand it and some do. I remember in the past one day I was reading a news paper which had printed star signs in it, my Granny caught me, and she forbid me to read it. After grow up I begun to use internet, one day I decided to check astrology and whoa everything was there. I read my star sign in deep and general. I found that though star sign can tell your traits, +ve and -ve, there are others who write wrong by protecting there star sign and destroy the others if they find their trait behaviors are not good.


I have heard Christians forbid astrology as they say they are superstitions. Jesus once replied, "When it is evening, you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.' "And in the morning, 'There will be a storm today, for the sky is red and threatening.You know how to interpret the weather signs in the sky, but you don't know how to interpret the signs of the times? (Matthew 16: 3).I don't mean to go and ask their reading but reading them is not evil. In real life we almost forecast everything otherwise we would have been dead because we would face a lot of challenges.

I person don't know how they do their work, it may be only myth.

Astrology, whether real or fake, claims to give insights into a person's nature and future. If it is fake astrology (newspaper horoscopes for example) it is useless. If it is real - and there is a real astrology, make no mistake - then the knowledge comes from an outside power of some sort. The question is, where does this power to discern these things come from? It is certainly not from God.

I would also think about Acts 16:16-18. The damsel with a spirit of divination did not say lies, she spoke the truth. But what she said came from a spirit that was not from God. If you can understand why Paul rebuked her you will understand why astrology is something to be avoided.

There is some bible story, i forget exactly which one, but there was some pagan religious dude who was hired to curse the Israelite's. God intervened and prevented him from carrying out the curse..... i always found it curious why God would bother to prevent an irrelevant pagan curse? There must be power in these things??

Anyway, it is wise to be wary, and my personal view on Astrology, where the danger lies, it is with the ability of it to influence your own decision making and choices for the future..... kindof like your 'destiny' gets a tiny bit adjusted, because of the way your own mind deals with the information, make any sense?

Astrology is the belief that the position of the stars has an affect on a person. When you are born, according to the time of year and position of the stars will determine what kind of personality you have. What kind of day you will have, etc... This clearly has nothing to do with God as our lives are not dictated by stars or planets, but by our own choices and by Gods hand, not natures.

And the reference you speak of in Matthew 16 isn't about astrology but pointing out how people can predict weather. And not supernaturally, but by more natural means. Meteorology, like you might see the weather man do on your news channel.

Astrology is a form of divination or sorcery. That means it is a way to predict the future, or know the future, which should only be known by God. It is forbidden in the Old and New Testaments.

Besides the fact, that it is not based on anything that actually works! Before I was saved, I had my astrology chart done by an experienced astrologer. It was based on my date and hour of birth, and the place I lived. When the astrologer checked for major life events, there was quite literally nothing that corresponded to the reality of my life.

So it is forbidden, it is fake and a lie. So why would you want to play with fire? Trust God and his word, and place your future in his hands.

The reason I don't believe in astrology is because it means 1) everyone born on the same day as you will have the same issues and outcomes in life 2) your destiny depends on what the stars and planets are doing..

I probably grew with that background, Nema. Since I knew nothing of a person, I thought I was smart enough when I could guess several people personality, traits, even WITHOUT knowing their date of birth: It was more than guessing (you know the word for it).

I remember clearly, when I worked in a bank, I could guess pretty well who was Adriana Meza´s sister one day. They were shocked (and surprised) I knew too many things about her the moment I shaked her hands and guessed even her birthday, the 1st time I met her, in a party I organized at my best friend´s.

It took me time to leave it. I renounced those "powers" of divination I got, evenly the power to "predict" whom I was to meet: That´s demonic and it was demonicly that I learned it just by reading about it.

Anyday, when I came back home from a scouting trip, I read in that horoscope: "There´s a risk you may loose something... Your things could be stolen" (something like that) and that "prediction was ok, because my friend Hector and I were assaulted and robed of our watch (I don´t remember if we gave those drug addicts money). So, as anyone can see, horoscopes tell you things that are possible, not impossible things.

If those zodiac signs were talking, alone, of people´s characters, their traits, I would agree on but, once a person comes to the Lord Jesus, his emotions, manners, ways, habits and life style change, step by step or in a rush.

When I was asked about my zodiac sign, in Spanish, I used to say: "I´m of the sign of the cross" (but in English I could say: "I´m God´s children")

They say "we have 70% of water and, same way the moon moves the ocean on certain cyclic moments, people are moved... like mad people move during FULL moon... I was a FOOL!

I belived those lies those divinators wanted me to believe.

The more I asked God to be changed, the more He helped me to be me. The OT is plenty of reasons to flee from those demonic lies people is taught to believe.

I thought if they do say about your characters, they might have done researches for various birth dates, however about their reading I always feel it do with something else more than research. I am of the opinion that the heavens declare what is going on on the earth. There are definitely things that go on up there that coincide with what is happening on earth. So there is some truth in where the stars are aligned when someone is born, etc.
People have studied those sharing a birth date, etc and found common traits. Of course there is some truth to it, it's not all a complete lie. However, people begin to rely too much on studying the heavens and predicting the future and basing all their beliefs on foretelling, and astrology and reading their horoscopes when God has already given His Word for the future and says to use that for basing beliefs on and for studying.

Those "astrologers" are witty. Let´s supose the looked at your avatar and said: "You are strong willed, too serious sometimes and, when you laughed, you laughed wholeheartedly. Your personality is loving, That´s your nature! But things have shown you to be wise (to avoid hurting). You work like a mule (you need it) but thingshave made you to change those ways you loved to be..." and more bla, bla, bla, just to fraw you to what "the planets and stars" tell you to belive (or be) and their stupidity is no one can guess what God has in stock (unless He tells you).

That area of the character is general, based in their observations and, when somethng went wrong (in what they said) the invented something called "planetarian ascendency", something they said would affect your character for THE HOUR YOU WERE BORN... More lies to get proselytes and followers! (yet they do not sell those predictions too much, while buying people´s souls and THEIR FAITH to a thing and not to GOD)
