Hello all,

Seeing another thread here in the Singles Forum that has drawn up a bit of controversy made me think of an idea for a thread I'd actually been tossing around for a while, so just for fun...

I've often heard the complaint that when a person wants to get serious about the dating scene or is seeing someone they want to impress, they have to start shaving more often (to avoid any undue controversy, let me say that I am just referring to general shaving only--head, face, underarms, legs, etc., in order to include both genders here.)

Do you feel the need to undergo the scalpel more often when trying to catch the attention of the opposite gender? And if so, what is your weapon of choice and do you find it to be a hassle?

I myself have, for some reason, been blessed with very little and hardly noticeable leg hair... and have had scores of female co-workers and friends test me in this, see that I pass the test (they actually make me pull up my pant leg to prove it) and then continue with prompt, passionate threats to my physical self and well-being! :D

What made me think of this idea for a thread???

I was in the store the other day and, since I don't have to buy razors that often (maybe once every few years, in all seriousness), I was completely taken aback to see that they now have razors with SIX, count 'em, SIX bladed all on one base!!! I thought, "Holy cow, that thing is just an extension cord away from being a combination food processor/multi-function juicer!!!"

How about all of you, if anyone cares to share? (If you so dare! :))

When I was in a relationship I definetly shaved my legs much more in the winter than I do now that I'm no longer ina relationship, it just kind of seems like if I'm wearing jeans it doesnt matter as much now. I dont shave my armpits any less though thats just common for me, i feel gross if I dont do that at least every other day. haha

I'm a guy, just making that clear XD

I don't really shave often. I wait 'till I have a very noticeable amount of hair before I'm like "Meh, may as well shave." Of course, I don't shave arms or legs or anything... But I shave my moustachey thing XD I leave the sideburns/chin hair, though. Most people tell me they don't like it, and if I was single I probably WOULD shave it off, but my girlfriend likes it so I'm fine with it =P

If I was actively seeking a date, then yes, I should shave it off. I'm not sure how many blades my razor has, but I use an electric trimmer for the sideburns/chin hair =P

Yeah, right now, I look like a curly wookie with glasses. I always groom like a Nazarite from August to March. I usually leave just the mustache throughout the summer. However, last Summer, I had a Franz Yosef beard. If you don't know what that is, look it up. It's pretty sweet. It's where one's mustache becomes one's sideburns. Having this facial hair style gave me the nickname Chops. A name that I'm still called today, even though I currently have a full beard. Right now my beard's only about two inches long, and my hair's about five inches. I only get my hair cut twice a year, once on the first day of spring, and again in the second or third week of August. If I could grow a successful goetee, I'd so shave my head. But it would have to be one sweet goetee, and it would have to be in the summer. One doesn't notice how much their beard keeps their face warm until they shave it in the middle of winter. I made this mistake once....never again. When I do shave, I use a disposable, with two razors. As for shaving body hair...no...never...ever...unless it's for a surgery...nope. Body hair is God's gift to prevent chafing.

i have a razor with 5 blades. i find it to be uncomfortable, as it pulls on the hair.

i think the optimum number is 3. any more or less doesn't cut it for me.

I'm single, but I'm not actively "hunting" for a date at the moment. I try my best to shave every other day, and I recently switched to electric from a triple-blade disposable razor.

Personally I find shaving a constant hassle, barely get done with it and it's time again!

I use a basic 2-blade razor because anything more than that and it's like paying for nothing, it's a ridiculous idea that 3, 4, 5+ blades provide better results, it's just that Gillette have nothing else they can do to make a 'new' product but keep adding blades, I can't wait to see their next innovation........7 BLADE RAZOR!!!

I sharpen my own knives so I might move onto a straight razor, trying to decide if it's worth the risk, one loud noise while I'm shaving and it could all be over!

In general I don't give it much thought, I am most happy with about 1 days growth so I usually shave every other day but the company I used to work for always nagged me to shave more often, they thought micro-management gave them some authority over my grooming habits.

I don't make any extra effort for anything really, so long as I am comfortable and am not causing a problem for anyone else then it's fine, and where dating is concerned I'm told by my mother that men should have a bit of stubble, I'll present myself how I am comfortable and if a woman prefers a clean shaven man then I guess I'm not gonna be her man.

As a female I only shave my underarms every other day. Im way too impatient and thrifty to waste money on razors so I usually wax my legs myself. Waxing saves me a month of shaving. The only down side to this is that in order to wax effectively, you need more than just leg stubble. Its a little annoying sometimes esp the looks I get from other females, not that I care. Im in a long distance relationship so my boyfriend hardly sees my legs and I dont care about getting a yeti look for a week cos its not as if Im trying to attract anyone else.

I hate shaving. It would be much easier to wax. I usually buy 3-4 blade razors. I like Gillette venus razors or schick quattro razors where you buy the refills. I quit buying them because it costs like $14 for a pack of four. I started buying disposable 3-4 blade razors.

When I shave I normally use my cut-throat razor.

However, I don't know for sure how my shaving habits would be affected if I were on the pull or involved in some kind of romantic relationship with a woman since it's never happened. If I were to guess, I'd suppose I might make more of an effort with my appearance, which would probably mean shaving more often.
