Let's use this thread to propose an intervention for people/things that we do in the Singles Forum.

For example, (and I got my idea from this reply by Siberian_Khatru, a.k.a. Siberian_Khudzu and Siberian_asklilforwhatshecalledhim, in the Streams thread) -

It really doesn't take much to get us on the subject of food for a protracted amount of time.
It seems that we often talk about food. Almost every thread in the Singles Forum has at least one reference to food, whether it be peanut butter, sourbread dough, cupcakes, cakes, pot roast or humans. Hence, I propose an intervention to stop posting about food in all threads in the Singles forum for one whole day.

Feel free to chip in with your proposals for intervention. Remember - a wise man once said, "An intervention a day keeps the loonies at bay." :p

As long as you don't mess with my chocolate. "Intervention" has become a cool thing these days, but don't mess with my chocolate.

I don't think I'll participate in this thread much - I have no vices.

This is why we get along. You just really understand me.

So... ways to intervene?

Put up a "Donut talk about food" sign up?
Gently let them know you don't wanna' taco 'bout it? Or tell them to stop making miso hungry? Maybe say it's nacho place to be talkin' bout food like that.

I will say, though, you butter use your manners, bean nice, and say 'Peas'.

Gosh, not only do I go by so many names now, but I'm the catalyst for an intervention thread. How flattering.

If this bars talk of Olerica's cheesecake concoctions...I'm out. :p

About those vices... Mark Twain had something to say about vices.

"I went to see an elderly lady one time. She was 93 years old and she started going down, and going down fast. So I went to see her in her illness. I asked her if she had tried giving up drinking. She said she had never drunk a drop of alcohol. I asked her if she had tried giving up smoking. She said she had never smoked. I asked if she had tried giving up profanity. She said she had never cussed."

"Well... there you have it. No vices to give up. It's like a ship that's going down and it has no freight to throw overboard. I still believe she would be alive today if she had had some vices to give up."

Here's C.S. Lewis giving a voice about vices:
I sometimes think that shame, mere awkward, senseless shame, does as much towards preventing good acts and straightforward happiness as any of our vices can do.

It's crazy how much our vices causes us shame.lol

tru fax: on days I bake I eat half of the calories of a normal day. On days I sell, I eat. It's a weird deal, man.
