ARGH!!! That's one of my pet peeves about older men hitting on me. They often DO act like they have money and as if a woman is something to be purchased. Thanks to people such as the ones in Zero's post who feed such stereotypes...

I always have the same answer: "Sorry. My daddy raised me to WORK. Anything I need or want... I can work towards and pay for myself."

"Old" men chase "young" because some of them knew what MANY actually have liked to being offered (they already know love cannot be bought, but temporally traded).

In fund rising money, by the way, many ladies are publicly used to draw it that way so, those who permitted this "fashion" are the ones... who regret it?

Well the good thing about it is that they see you as an attractive young maiden.

It's not flattering, Zero.

At least not to me. It makes me feel uneasy, not attractive.

As I wrote in another thread, I've felt like a Pedophile Magnet my entire life.

But They want to marry you, not molest you.

You do see the irony in this statement, don't you? :)

Marrying... um... so yes. Intimacy is on their mind. You talk as if all they want to do is marry you and hold hands.

And these thoughts are from men 20-40 or more years older than me, as it's been all my life, starting when I was about 12.

Which, to me, is creepy beyond reason. Just my own opinion.

I have known a couple of ladies whose esteem got improved when they "draw" younger ppl but, was it love?

In that case, I would totally agree with the statement BIABIA said in her post #45.

An old person flashing money around to a young woman..Hmmm..is that how they marriage proposal these days? :p

One has to question, why is there a big gap between age (approx. 20+ differences)?
Like, if communication is one key thing in relationship, wouldn't the age/generational gap bring conflict? Culture? Life experiences differences? etc.

Or is it a question of demographics? Not enough people their age? Or maybe social media?

Or dare I say, personal ego?

"Oh sweet mercy"--you don't have the copyright on that saying, do you Servant? Because I'm going to have to start using that... It's a whole lot better than what I hear from the night crew at work!

Just the other day I had a viewing from an 84-year-old man.

Which is a pretty common day for my my dating profile. Most views and messages I get are from men ages 55 to... well... 84. I think 90-something is my official record, but that was a while ago.

So far.

Like I said... I feel like a lifelong Pedophile Magnet, even at 41.

@ BIABIA

The flashing of money:

1) When a man or a woman of similar ages (not more than 5 years) is flashing his/her money, what do that ppl think?

Since I`m too old to remember what I lived, I prefer to look at Isaac´s fortune. It is my foolish idea that Isaac was "immmediately" married when his future wife saw the money her INLAW would give that son.
Laban, in the other hand, fell in love with Isaac´s fortune so, if that worked that way 2000 years back, how come it won´t work today?

I don't think I copyrighted it. I say it a lot though.

But I've had all sorts of strange people view my profile. They never tried to contact me though.

Hmm.. 90-something. Time to put the setting limit on those things. I've given up on dating site or for guys in generally, that's just me. :(

Personally, I feel dating sites are like 'russian roulette' to me. So many bad experiences, so little time.

There was one 80-something-year-old guy who tried to instant message me... and the photo he was using was from when he was in the Navy... at around age 18. So the ironic thing was, his picture popped up on my screen and at first I was like, "ARGH! This guy is WAY TOO YOUNG!!!" And then I saw his real age... LOL.

I guess I'm kind of the Goldilocks of dating. Too young or too old. The ironic thing is that I've had guys as much as about 16 years younger ask me out too. The thing is, I'm somewhat flexible with age... if we are actually at similar stages in life.

I'm not looking to have children or raise grandchildren (as some of the other men are doing), which greatly narrows the parameters.

Unfortunately, the site I'm currently on doesn't let you block age ranges.

I agree in that dating can feel that way, but I've met some really interesting people on the site. One guy was studying to be Green Beret--gave me a lot of insight into military life. Another guy I exchanged several messages with was deaf, and he was explaining a lot of things about his everyday life, including using the phone (this was before cell phones and texting.)

And I've met a lot of really great people here on CC. So that's one of the really positive things I can say... the dating world has taught me a lot about other people's lives.

Nah, thanks. :) I don't want to sway too much from the topic. It was just a battling personal thoughts running through my head....especially, knowing my uncle is dating someone my age... little bit un-easy. Just a little....[sighs]
