MV Logos Hope is a huge ship that brings knowledge, help, and hope to the world. It is also known as the largest floating bookfair. And it recently docked in Cebu, Philippines last May 6. I covered the event as part of my internship as a journalist. I was able to meet some of the 400 crew members from 45 different countries around the world. I remembered having stepped on the ship when I was younger probably 12 or 13, it was their old ship, the MV Duolos. And from then on, I've loved books and reading.

The past few weeks have been really hard on me, especially on my internship. It was difficult because people would expect me to rejoice on bad news like people dying or getting sick and then eventually dying, corrupt officials laundering the people's money, or kids getting beaten to death by corrupt policemen or getting trafficked by some pedos. I know as a journalist these issues are gems and they make loud news, but rejoicing on them is not what I have in mind. Some, those who are blinded by the world, often take bribes to sell their story.

My fellow journalists in the place where I had my internship literally pray for these things to happen so they'll have something to report.

They do it just for the sake of having a story to submit to their editors, not for the love and service to the public.

The thing is that, I want to be a journalist so I can be the bearer of truth and information & share it to those who are oppressed and deprived. Serving the public in truth and humility without prejudice lets me shine the light of Christ upon them.

I was a bit shaken. My passion died down. I didn't want to be a journalist anymore. I couldn't possibly think of being part of it after I graduate. I started doubting about God's will in my life and why He placed me in that situation.

But having been assigned to cover MV Logos Hope's arrival in Cebu was God's plan, I knew it deep in my heart, and it changed my perspective again. I have been able to experience Jesus, more passionately this time, when I joined the different activities they had on the ship. I have rekindled my hope and passion.

I brought my fellow intern with me and have her experience what it's like to have Jesus in one's life. She cried after this one event, Youth Mission, and she told she's never felt so loved before. It was incredible seeing her with so much joy. I remembered the first time I encountered Jesus in my life and it made me see the beauty of life again, no matter how pessimistic others are around me at work.

The ship brings knowledge, help, and hope to the people of the world through sharing Jesus' love. And I want to do the same, in the place where God has put me, to the people He placed around me.

If you've stepped inside the ship, or ever heard of it, can you share your story too? That would be awesome.

You are blessed!

Hi Sis, so glad to hear that you got your joy back :)! "I remembered the first time I encountered Jesus in my life and it made me see the beauty of life again" ... great way to phrase it. Any beauty down here can only exist due to Him anyway :).

I've never been on the ship, but my parents were familiar with the older one, the Doulos. We don't live close to the shore, though :).

Amen to that! :)

I see. Perhaps someday you'd be able to experience what it's like on that ship.

God bless you :)
