I love this post so much! The English language is stupid. Here in Australia, we call 'mace' or 'pepper spray' 'capsicum spray', and yet I don't think it contains any capsicum. That said, most people don't even own any, because Australia is generally safer, except for all the animals that try to kill you.
Well THAT'S certainly comforting... But I'm guessing that macing (forgive me, peppering :)) a kangaroo carries even harsher penalties than peppering a pervert. (Not that I'd ever mace a kangaroo.)

Ladies, remember to practice with a friend first...

Zero, I take this as your volunteering! :D

Come a little closer...

People have to use common sense along with self defense. But I can say, after some of the things I've been through, I would rather mace (or punch, kick, scream) first, ask questions later, if I truly felt I was about to be attacked. Some things are far worse than going to jail.
It's definitely each person's choice. It's just that some of these posts sounded like some poor guy might get maced for not being handsome enough to look in a woman's direction.

Wait. Peppering a kangaroo? Are they good eating, kangaroo? Are we talking hot pepper, black pepper... stir fry? Hmmm...

(See how I did that? Now, now we're back to food)

No, no, no.

In all seriousness.

I would never resort to violence unless I felt my safety was in danger, or it was someone who was not respecting my personal space and kept trying to get close to me or somehow have physical contact with me even though I specifically told him "No, don't touch me" or to please step away from me.

But as MissCris said, if the situation was truly uncomfortable, I'd rather get the person the $%^& away from me first and ask questions later than risk being harmed.

Truthfully, I periodically train in a class where there are people attacking. Helps ya get the feel of what it's like to full on hit someone. I don't want to carry a weapon that could be taken from me and used against me.

No, no. At least I hope that's not the case. I don't think they're talking about spraying men willy-nilly, but about spraying men (or women, I guess) who try to attack them.

Kangaroo has a fairly sharp taste, so it requires lots of garlic and onion.

I did a double-take at that one too. :)

I'm guessing "Nilly" is Willie's Siamese twin. :)

Sorry. I thought I read it as macing someone who seemed "perverty". My mistake, I guess.

No harm, brother. By the way, spraying people willy-nilly just means to spray each and every person without a care in the world. Without considering that some of these people not be attacking you when you break out your capsicum spray. ;)

"Is It 'Christian' To Mace a Pervert?"

Are you kidding?

I've hosed down 3 weirdos already this week. And it's only Thursday... 3 more days to go.

Wow. Won't THAT be a Sunday to talk about:

"What'd you do this weekend, Kim?"

"Oh... went to church... Maced 3 perverts... Went to Bible study... You know. The usual."

I say, Bring it on! I'm going for the record, y'all. WHO SAYS SINGLE LIFE IS BORING???!!!
PREACH IT, SISTAH!

Nearly two years ago I had a guy break into my home through the back door. It was really late at night and I was up reading. He was drunk and/or high. I made him leave by cussing a blue streak and pushing him...hard. After that, several friends told me that I should buy a gun...ahahahahahaha....er, no.

There were a couple of times years ago where on a dancefloor I had to backhand men who were under the impression that my body was public property of some sort.

I don't really feel threatened if a guy says something creepy or inappropriate. Mostly I'll just ignore him or leave. I think some men are under the impression that it's assertive and manly to be slightly inappropriate with a woman....which amuses me, to be honest. I suppose if a guy I just met said something to me like, "I know where you live." That might weird me out. But otherwise, I leave them to their own awkwardness.

I have seen a couple ladies on the forum mention they have been subjected to some dirty old man types... I believe they should have mace and use it when they feel subjected to these kinds of men.....What do others think ?
I dont know if its Christian but I have one attached to my keychain. If someone messes with me they arent going to like the result. My sister and I went into the city one night to watch a movie. It was late when we came out to the parking lot.I had my big butt can of mace in my hand.We made it safely into the car.She joked that I was disappointed I hadn't gotten to use it.Would I use it? In a red hot minute, and ask forgiveness later ;)
