I know I won't feel it every day, but I rarely feel His presence. And I know not to rely on feelings. I believe (I'm passionate about His Word and eager to know the Spirit more), but it's like my faith is hanging by a single thread.
I'll pray for you too, Tintin. This too shall pass, dear brother :)

I never thought that much of fasting either back in the day to be honest. Like what good could abstaining from food possibly do besides making you hungry? Though I had a pretty severe dark night of the soul early in my salvation experience and let me tell you, I was desperate enough to try anything. It truly does work, providing your doing it for the right reasons. Prayer and fasting has never ceased to amaze me when used in combination. Can not recommend it highly enough.
Thanks, brother. That's some good advice. How do I go about fasting?

I can only hope. Thank you, dear sister.

It's quite humbling to be prayed for by all of you. Thank you. Thank you.

I think I'm going to fast until tomorrow night. I don't know how to do it, all I know is it involves no food. I love food. Please pray for me in this. Thanks.

when U fast wash your face and anoint your head with oil (olive oil) and dont tell anyone U are fasting either. And the Lord God will give you the strenght to fast and help U through it.

matthew 6:16-18

Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;

That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

Oops. Okay, I'm not fasting, you guys. ;)

I'm sorry to hear that you are struggling through this, Tintin. I have been in the same position when I did not hear from God for 9 months. It has to be one of the lowest points of my life, a bleak period when I even contemplated walking out on God.

Here are some ways I have heard from God. I am not saying all these would work for you; I just want to give you some helpful hints, if that is possible. :)

1. I have heard from God through external sources - a song which touched me, a sermon which seemed tailor-made for me, a prophecy in church, etc.

2. God has spoken to me through dreams about things which are about to happen or about decisions which I must make.

3. I have felt the urge of the Holy Spirit to do (or, not do) something. I consider that as God speaking with me.

4. This one is not exactly a channel through which I hear from God - sometimes, I do not hear from God at all. During those times, I tell God "Lord, I am stepping out in faith on this issue. Let things happen as per Your will." I then proceed to act using my reasoning skills, but the outcome is always as per God's will. There have been times when I have prepared and acted on an issue, only for nothing to materialize at the end of it. Whatever be the outcome, I take it as that was the will of God.

I hope this helps, bro. I am praying for you. Hang in there, for this too shall pass! :)

I also want to experience that. To hear His words again speaks to my soul and feel Him. I always long to have a deep connection with God. I don't know but most people who spend their entire time reading His words, pray for a long period of time, seek His presence, have fasting and such are the one who are truly blessed because their soul are well-fed and filled with Holy Spirit. Just If we open our hearts to Him and build a deeper connection, i believe we will seek Him and hear from Him.

I've done all of these but the fasting. And I've decided it's time. I'm not fasting, okay? ;)

Just give up food, no eating. Obviously focus on prayer more than you normally would during this time. Drink whatever you want (though if you consume any alcohol in normal life, obviously none of that either). 24 hours is a start but I would recommend at least 2-3 days. Some people literally go a month but I have never personally done it quite that long.

I have so many stuff in my hearts right now. Things... that prevents me from having a deep connection with Him. But I hope and pray that God will give me the answer that I am searching for. Soon.

It's fasting and prayer. Without prayer you are just starving.

The idea is to submit the flesh to the Spirit.

Weaken the flesh thru fasting. Strengthen the Spirit thru prayer.

I can't help but wonder if Harry Potter has something to do with your spiritual drought ;)

AAAnd one last thought that won't leave my head...

You know that footprints poem, about how at his lowest points the guy saw only one set of footprints in the sand and wondered why God had left him, when God said that was actually the times that He carried the man?

I can't help thinking there's a similar thing going on when we can't hear God..

Yes, of course. I guess I was highlighting the idea of fasting because prayer is nothing new to me. Thanks, Ricky.

I am, but someone posted verses about not telling people you're fasting. So I'm not fasting. *wink, wink*
Yeah, I was starting to think I had misinterpreted that. And the Harry Potter reference was of course a joke... kinda.
