A funny thing happened last night, I was watching the fourth part of an animated TV series called The Legend of Korra. It's an excellent series but not Christian by any means. That said, God used it for His glory. I can't fault the timing. There were many bits that spoke to me, several things included being your own worst enemy, fighting your demons and not being able to do it on your own (otherwise you'll turn out to be a shell of your former self), trying to fix everything on your own, being still and quieting your mind and heart to hear from God, needing to be surrounded by your loved ones to get through the especially dark times. There was a lot of other stuff to do with the nature of sin and God at work in the spiritual realm, but I can't place them right now (but they were the first four episodes of Book 4). I felt God telling me it was okay, I was to trust Him in this dark time and not to take on this battle for myself. So I guess God is talking to me!

Then, some time later, I prepared for bed and sat and read for awhile. I also read from my Bible. Esther. Not all of it, just a few chapters, but one part was about Esther preparing to meet with the king, without his permission. This was a death-sentence. But Esther, along with her family and handmaidens fasted and prayed for several days before she went in to see the king. And in the end, Esther was admitted and she didn't die and she saved her kingdom, because she trusted God. She took the step of faith required, a step that would very likely have meant her death, but she did it to save her people. God isn't at the fore-front of the Book of Esther, flashing His name in big neon lights, but there's no doubt He permeates the whole book. Thanks, God.

Let's see what He has in store...
It's truly amazing what God does for his beloved children and I am continuing to pray that you are left with reminders of his promises over your life every single day. I am excited for you and even more to find out exactly what he has planned for you.

With God all things are possible

Tintin, just a quick message to say hello and share God's blessings. I hope this message finds you feeling some peace and being encouraged. Remember, Jesus says we will all experience times of doubt. His love, grace presence and friendship do not diminish during our struggles, in fact, they only manifest more so. Thinking about you and praying for you, my Brother. PM me anytime.

Wow. I find you rather rude. I don't think God is petty. Besides, this all started when a friend here mentioned fasting as a way of hearing from God and I thought it would be a good idea. I'm not running around saying, look at me! Look at me! Or anything like that. I've also asked people to help me in my fast by praying. Apparently, that's also a big no-no. Never mind that we're meant to lift each other up in prayer. I'm struggling here and all you have for me is, 'well, looks like you blew it. Try again'. I'm out. Goodbye.
To go along with what Kim said...

The "sense and tense" of what the indicated verses are saying is centered - and focused - on "the intent of the heart" -- not "mere knowledge" about someone 'giving', 'praying', 'fasting', etc.

"God looks at the heart..." ;)

I thought I'd surrendered anything.
I ask because you said you had been wrestling with God, so it sounded to me like you were maybe fighting for/against something... but I know it's a very ambiguous phrase that means different things to different people.

If you're wrestling with Him because you want direction or guidance, I think you've got to trust that He isn't giving you any because you already have all the guidance you need. He wouldn't withhold instructions if He wanted you to do something specific.

I also agree with the others who said to ask God to help you love and trust Him more. I've done that before, because I don't really think I can make myself love or trust anyone, not even Him. But since we are commanded to love and trust Him, I know that He will help us do just that. And really, can any of us say that we love and trust Him as much as we should?

Also I will pray for you. I'm sorry if my reply sounds terse... my words went shopping earlier today and they haven't returned yet. :p
