It's a question that I often toss around in my head. Reason being is because I would consider myself one. I'm pretty liberal about a lot of things and have a lot of liberal views but I love the Lord! I guess it's a question I think about often because I constantly see on here and in other places the calling out of "liberals". I will also admit that it's kind of the reason I feel uncomfortable and like I don't fit in when it comes to the church. I love God just as much as anyone else and I wish people could see past my political views.

I haven't the slightest idea how a Christian could ever live a 'conservative' existence. That seems it would only be for "Religious" people.

Of course, I am, not at all, speaking of the "political" definition of the word, LIBERAL.

This is something you will deal with no matter what your political views. You could be a commie, old school conservative, democrat, progressive, libertarian, liberal, etc....doesn't matter. There will always be someone else "calling you out". Every party has their bad people that hate everyone who doesn't agree with them. You can't avoid them no matter which way you go.

Someone asked me once if I was a Conservative Liberal or a Liberal Conservative, but I'm not much into politics and am much more interested in life/moral perspectives.

Biblically, my personal view (and it's only my opinion, surely not an absolute) was that the religious teachers were conservative and Jesus was liberal, because He shocked them time and time again by healing on the Sabbath and hanging out with tax collectors and "sinners", which, to the Pharisees and Saduccees, were the acts of a heathen liberal whom they called the son of the devil.

If I had to label myself as anything, I'd call myself a "Liberal Conservative." I'm conservative but often think outside the box and have ideas or perspectives that many will condemn as liberal.

I had a mentor whom I really admired who once said, "I'm human. I'm going to make errors. And if I do, I'd rather err on the side of grace rather than law."

I know many Christians are the opposite (they're more concerned about obeying the law than showing grace or mercy) but the toughest thing I find in my own Christian walk is to find the proper balance that God approves of.

What I see with love, is someone who says they want to grow in their own way, this could be a part of you that is testing the spirits, what is good for edification, and what is not! As many are now saying what is bad is now considered good, and vice versa. I am not too worried, as long as you do stay with the word which is God. Prayers of strength, that you are not led off by the enemy!

There's too much emphasis on political affiliation. Religious ideals seem to die the death of a thousand qualifications when people start waxing political.

It's not even totally about my political views. I'm very open minded and just have different opinions on things and a lot of times I get crap from other Christians. It's just disheartening and frustrating.

Can you be a Liberal Christian?

I think the only question you need to ask yourself is this.
Are you supporting something that goes against the Word of God?

And if you are, just pray about it and read the Word more often.
Your brothers and sisters in Christ shouldn't be judging you, that's not their job. Whatever you support or believe is between you and God and we cannot change your views, only He can.

And if you are not, then you're good to go! ;)

I hope this helps :)

You came onto a thread and in your frustration begin to charge others with certain motives ..while using PC terms and promoting left-wing ideas.... I don't have any contention in my heart against you..but just thought I should stand firm in the truth I was defending.. I know what im saying is right..and its true... Ill leave your thread and you to consider how unfair it its for someone to dare speak the truth in this PC world :)

Yeah. My motives were to tell everyone to love one another. Such terrible and left wing motives.

Random musing : Political talk craps me up sometimes. For the purposes of this post, Freedom = Slavery

I support freedom and want everyone to be as free as possible.

Critical Thinker asking question: Why are you breaking out the chains and forcing us to work 16 hours days then?

How dare you try to attack our freedoms! We need more chains, and guardposts at every corner to insure public safety. Don't you care about that poor little old lady across the street that can't defend herself? You are despicable and you hate elderly people, its people like you that support death panels. You are what is so wrong with our country, you are an enemy of Freedom for all! Remember 9/11! Never again!
