To those who are in love, caught the love bug but now heart broken, longing for love, not looking for love, what does love mean to you?

In my opinion love for men means respect. That is a basic need for them. They cannot love a woman who looks down on them. While for women love means just love or simply affection. A woman needs to feel special and loved and valued. Without it she cannot respect his man. Once you start looking down on your man love will gradually diminish.

True love is not the love bug or a gushy feeling. Artsiesteph and I have been together for almost a year and my love for her can be described in this way- I do not expect us to never have arguments and fights but even in those my love for her will still the waters, when she is stressed and worrying regardless what I am doing I will be there to help her to comfort her to build her up and encourage her just as Jesus always did for me in my time of weakness. I want her to be able to speak about anything to me even if it's in anger without fear I want her to know she has two dairies my left ear and my right one.

And also I want her to know that ours is an equal partnership no matter what the situation is or what decision I have no more authority as the man than she does as the women God sees his children both male and female with the same eyes and so we will base that on our relationship. we are not married but all of those vows made in weddings that so many say but don't ever uphold and get divorced when things get rough I take very seriously and even though we are not married I hold all those vows in our relationship

You are so sweet Blain. She is blessed to have you. The gushy feeling is important too, its one of the greatest feelings of being in love that God wants us to enjoy. May God lead your relationship to a sacred marriage. True love begins when one falls out of love.

Why would you run? You are weird. Lol!

God invented love. Love is His nature. The magic is overwhelming that our poor little human minds and hearts cannot quite handle, it drives us to madness. We need to be more Christlike first to handle that kind of love.

the gushy feeling does come yes but the love I feel when I think of her is different. the gushy lovey dovey feeling is nice but it feels kind of un solid to me like it isn't something that can be strong enough to keep the bond between us alive. But the love I have developed is made of different material. When I think of her I don't simply feel the love I know it's there it's much deeper and much stronger made of richer materials and this love is what I feel God feels for us and is why the bond and the relationship between her and I can never break it may bend but will never break

Ya its hard to explain because when its true its beyond words. Its meant to be felt. When God is in the center, love between two people is truly unbreakable.

Despite having taken a few steps back from Christianity, this still resonates with me and parallels my idea of love.

It doesn't matter how many times or how often we fall and mess up what matters is if we choose to stay down or take the hand of Jesus offering his help saying I need you to be strong
 
Love is an act of the will. Not emotion. Although emotions may be affected by it. But more times than not, especially the worldly type of love, emotions are confused as love. And contrary to what zeroturbulence said, love is truth. Love isn't always nice. Sometimes it's painful.

Love does not hurt. Loving the wrong person does.
Bu we have to go through that mess if we really want to find the right person.
