I'm confused when it comes to my struggle with Body Image issues and what 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 means ? Does this mean that we accept ourselves (psalm 139:14) without changing anything and if so do we need to avoid exercising or eating well .. hope someone can shed some light to this area .

Thanks !

That text is about avoid sexual immorality, not eating.
Don't think it's good to eat unhealthy and never move, because then you get sick. Neither is it good to exercise all day and be vain. Something in between I guess. Someone trained every day to get muscles. God said: if I ask you to fast you did it all for nothing. There is a text: exercise is of little use, so not no use at all.

Always take care of yourself man! Exercise is just... Oh boy, how do I say... SUCH a gift from God. Eating right and exercise is just... well, Try it and tell me for yourself. :D It is True that some people are blessed from birth without having ANY body fat, and that... (to me while growing up) was ABSOLUTLEY infuriating... But, It's because they're children of people who were Blessed. We inherit our ancestors sin, And the goal is to just look like Jesus eventually. Look like him, sound like him, have his temperament... All awesome things. Some people are blessed and some are cursed, but when we are Born Again of flesh and Spirit... Its just, an awesome thing :D

Hi ,

Could you explain please in more detail what you are refering to as I'm not sure as some detail that is refered to does not seem to me to be addressing the ?

I,ll answer 1 detail exercise is very importaint if not then why the big large issue we have with food children for starters eat and eat and do nothing great who pays for all the health issues that we see and know about ,

then adult ooops bigger issues ,

say I am a runner do I stop doing my detail to be ...able ... to run you need the right food intake sleep and exercise and if you don't well you wont be running , I was a runner so I know ,

so then ,

body image ,

we accept our selfs

and not change any thing

avoid exicising,

or eating well,

So that means we don't look after our selfs, Hmmm....okay so your what age 27 about okay do you wont to reach say 60 or 70 well it stands to reason if your body is not looked after what happens ,

Muscles.

I trained doing weights though not your gym type of training I worked in a cabby shop age 15 1/2 to 17 1/2 , it took 2 of us to lift tables and cubboards and other heavy bedroom suites and so on I spent 6 months doing it with my boss and then thought okay training time so I did 3 months later I was shifting all of our furniture and lifting it up to 3 feet , my body shape then is the same now at 68 + I don't have as would be said a male body muscle mass I'm about the same weight 11 1/2 stone =154 lb,s height 5 9";

So from that I have a good body shape fit do marching as needed and next Monday on Parade for Anzac , I know had I not looked after myself I would not be as I am now . Its about don't go overboard .in looking after your self you just work it out as you need to,

...noeleena...

How would honoring God with your body ever be interpreted as not doing what you know to take care of yourself? So yes do your best to eat well and don't underestimate the power of exercise, it releases all kinds of feel good chemicals in your body. And at least some people have found that eating all kinds of processed crap worsens moodiness, depression, and other things.

Best thing you can do for both your body and your mood is to avoid stuffing yourself with sweets, soda, and other unhealthy foods, and when the negative thoughts start plaguing you, force yourself to get out and move. Or at least when I do those things it sure helps my whole mood and outlook on life as well as my waistline.

But also, accept that God made you, you and it really is ok if you never look like a movie star and are just average looking and averagely fit. God knew what he was doing.
