Note: Movie series count as several movies (LOTR, H. Potter, Star Wars, etc). Pick only the episodes within the series that you'd recommend.

My most favorite movie The Diving Bell and the Butterfly:

The other two might be Once and Requiem for a Dream.

Apparently, I like moody movies.

The Last Starfighter. The 3D rendering was great for its time and the story, although predictable, was well told.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. The old one, not the creepy new one.

Wizard of Oz. Can't beat it.

Depends entirely on the person's taste...

Off the top of my head, maybe three Russell Crowe such as: Cinderella Man, Gladiator, and either A Beautiful Mind or Master and Commander

If I go the Robin Williams route, I'd probably recommend Patch Adams, The Awakenings, and either Jacob the Liar or Bicentennial Man

If animated is the way they want to go, then probably Bolt, How to Train Your Dragon, and either Kung Fu Panda or Prince of Egypt.

If they are looking for war, then probably Enemy at the Gates, Saving Private Ryan, and the third could be just anything like...Black Hawk Down, Thin Red Line, We Were Soldiers, etc etc etc

As for non-CGI animation, I'd probably say Road to El Dorado, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, and The Lion King... so many quotes...SO MANY QUOTES...

Um... If we're going space, then probably Armageddon, Red Planet, and something like Apollo 13

I mean...I've wasted my life on so many movies...YEARS WORTH OF TIME...that I would literally just have to ask them what kind of movies they liked (Specific titles/genres and why), and then make recommendations based of what I know about their taste preferences.

AsifinPassing: Waste of time... yeah, that's what most movies are these days. Instead of "I have a story I would like to tell through people acting it out," most movies these days are "This is the kind of story people will pay to see, so let's make more of them."

That's why all the movies I can really, wholeheartedly recommend are old ones, made back when they actually told good stories.

So... how's the latest Avengers movie shaping up? :p

3. "The scent of Green Papayas" - a gorgeous Vietnamese/ French subtitled film with so much beauty and charm.

2."Fried Green tomatos".An oldie but a goodie.....set in the American South - with Kathy Bates and Jessica Tandy.A story of personal growth, love and ....fried green tomatos.

1. "Indochine."An exquisite love story set in the 1940's during the French occupation of Indo-China (what is now known as Vietnam.)Beautiful scenery, opulent sets and costumes and a gripping plot. Also, Catherine Deneuve and Vincent Perez in their hey day.Winner all round! :)

Its almost impossible to pick just three.
I would say give us 12 to pick.
But okay, in no particular order
1- Citizen Kane
2 - A streetcar named Desire
3 - Lawrence of Arabia

"The Passion of Christ" would be first.
Then would come "We Were Soldiers Once, and Young."

# three is harder... got to think some. Maybe the original "Back to The Future."
