My childhood was pretty awesome. I've noticed a lot of 90s kids posts but I've never seen other generations talk about their childhood like mine does. So this is your chance!
Post something from your childhood. It could be anything: a youtube video, pictures of fashion choices, celebrities, things you did for fun, candy, food, toys, shoes whatever you want.
Of course 90s kids are welcome too, anyone! I just mentioned that above because I've noticed people my mom's age don't really talk much about their childhood.

Just let us know what years they are from. :)

When I was a child 1970s 1980s there was only three TV channels and only
a couple of well known children's TV programmes to choose from.

This was one of them :)

Ahh wonderful memories of...
When TV had fewer channels but programs were quality, both home-grown TV and US imports.
Memories of playing in the street/park and frequent trips to the beach at weekends.
Memories of when political correctness and health & safety were delved out sparingly.
A simpler time when computers were a distant dream and having one corded telephone in the home was a luxury.
A time when even adults didn't know what transvestite or transgender or transanythingelse meant.
When folks had a moral code, rules, respect and cared about others.
When divorce was rare.
When music was AWESOME!!!

I'm afraid those days are gone forever and we will never get them back and the thought of this makes me sad. Nevertheless God tells us not to look back and so I try to concentrate on moving forward.

I won't post it here because it has a cuss word. But this is very true so I'll post a link to it.

In my childhood they had not yet used up all the plotlines for TV and movies. So you didn't have a lot of shows that basically rehashed what had already been done. (*cough*marvel*cough*) When you sat down to watch a movie you knew you were going to actually see a STORY, not a carefully crafted series of "this is what the audience will want to see" moments.

THIS is my childhood. I loved it!

When I was a kid, there wasn't much money around. Plus I had
5 older brothers with no knowledge of what a little girl might want for
birthdays and Christmas.

I had a list of things in my head that I wanted but never got.

1) A barbie doll complete with accessories.
2) A girls world doll. It was just the head and shoulders of a large doll but
you could style the hair and it came with loads of styling bits and pieces.
3) A real dog, or rabbit, or even a goldfish!
4) A bicycle
5) A big dolls house

What I got was Lego bricks, cars, a toy stuffed dog, a 3 wheel scooter which was
really slow and nowhere near as good as a bicycle. Skipping rope, lots of balls
footballs, sponge balls etc and usually clothes/shoes, teddy bears.

I use to go to my friends house and drool over her barbie dolls complete with
barbie home and barbie car and all those outfits and little bags and hair combs.lol
I finally got a bicycle aged about 12 and a real dog at 15. But I never got a barbie
doll.:(

Three TV channels, one of them Swedish. Barne- TV (Kids- TV) was on for half an hour, just before the evening news.
One of the shows that came on every summer: Katein Sabeltann (Captain Sabretooth). It was only recently he was turned into a cartoon/ animated movie.

The kids nowdays are still crazy about him.

----

I owned a walkman! :D

On rare occasions, we used to rent a video player + video at the local supermarket.

I lived close enough to school to cross the road and climb a fence, brining me inside the schoolyard.

I met my friends my going outdoors to see what they were up (also being outdoors), or , as we got older, we met at the houses of whoever had Sega, so we could play Sonic.... or just as cool, of anyone who had a PC so we could play around using MS Paint :p

I loved this show : p Still really liked Helga Pataki a bunch : p

the-legend-of-zelda-ocarina-of-time-3ds-20110413043537384.jpg

Its impossible to find good pictures of the actual N64 version now that they have the 3DS remake, but this game was like the best thing when I was a kid : p

hqdefault.jpg

Everyone liked Pokémon back when I was a kid : p If you didn't like Pokémon, you didn't have friends : p

sting4.jpg

Pro wrestling was huge back at that time, too. And Sting was the coolest ever : p

Violin was also a big thing for me as a kid. It was the first instrument I learned to play, and I really got into it. Its what lead me to music, and I played it until I was 18. Orchestra to this day is the first thing I think about when I remember school, so its definitely a large part of my childhood : p

Bikes too, I loved bikes back as a child, I loved just riding my bike through the alleys behind my house. I would ride my bike for hours, I even remember like waking up being excited to go ride my bike : p Dunno why I liked it so much, though : p
