Do you prefer having many little things than having only one, but the best quality?
To be honest? I prefer what ever amount what God gives me. Because you know you will get the best what ever he gives.

Depends what it is.

...

...

Okay, that's a simplistic answer. I'll give examples. With food I tend to get something good. Blue Bell ice cream, havarti cheese from a mennonite store near here, sourdough bread instead of that spongy, floppy, gummy stuff the store sells, a real restaurant instead of fast food factories... I will pay more if I think it is worth it.

On the other hand my audio adapter bag (yes, I have a bag specifically for audio adapters... I'm a music nerd) has a lot of little retractable mini-headphone patch cables. You know, that cable that connects your phone's headphone port to the car's aux-in port. I go through those like water goes through a sieve, so when I saw them for less than two bucks a piece on amazon.com (and retractable to boot!) I bought almost 20 of them. The wire in them is really thin, the connectors are not up to the gold plated standard, but they work and they were cheap. They get the job done.

Mind you, for a job that is important - such as piping audio from a record player to my computer to make a music file of what was on the record, a file that will be in my music collection for the rest of my life - I will use something better for a patch cable. That's where quality trumps quantity.

In parting I will mention the thread title reminds me of a story I heard. All the animals in the grasslands were comparing the sizes of their litters and boasting about how many kids they had. Then a hyena turned and asked a lioness, "So, how many kids do you have?"

"Only one" said the lioness, "but that one is a king!"

Definitely quality for me ... You don't need to ask as I'm literally exuding it ...

Fine things are not bad but its quality for me because I want nothing but the best. I do my best and I hope for the best.

Depends what it is.

Ironically, it often turns out (in blind tests), that the cheap versions of a product are as good as, or better than, the "original" more expensive version....

My bed is expensive... cheap mattresses kill my back / shoulders / neck.
For stuff you just have to have and use daily (toothpaste, hand soap etc) I use the cheapest variety unless I become allergic to it

I always go for quality. I've learned many times that saving money often makes you wish you spent more on the good stuff. Lower quality stuff often looks good at first, but then it breaks easily or there are things about it that you find you don't like. Sometimes you can find good quality at a nice price, and sometimes the cheaper one is actually better than the expensive ones, but I find that at least half the time you have to spend more to get a good quality product.

I find that the best way to find good quality at the lowest price is to search for products on amazon and click the sort results setting according to rating. Be sure to read some of the reviews because there are sometimes a bunch of fake reviews to make a product look better than it is, but its rare. You can tell the fake the ones because they don't go into specifics. They just say stuff like "Loved this. Great product!". Some may be real, but if there's only 20 reviews and they are all like that, then they're probably fake..

It does depend on what it is. If I'm shopping for clothes, I want quantity, because I want to get the most that I can for my money. No matter how much money I have, you're never gonna see me buying 100$ jeans or a 50$ shirt. But if I'm buying a cell phone, and depending on which phone I get, I may not be able to buy a few other things that I want, I'm still buying the newest, bestest phone lol.

More times than not I do prefer quantity though, just because I know that things can and will be replaced.

$50 shirts and $100 jeans don't necessarily mean better quality anyway. I'm with you. I want WELL MADE stuff. If I can get that for cheaper, I will.

I think some of these answers show the thinking that "brand name"= quality. This is not always the case.

We also need to consider that quality is not universal and it's relative. In the case of food - many times, the brand name item in the shiny package is not very good quality when it comes down to nutrition. However, if one values convenience over nutrition, then the product suddenly has a higher value (quality) than that organic male salad.

Oh great.

I'm having enough trouble trying to find a boyfriend.

Now I have to make sure he's organic, too???!!

(Now THAT'S an awkward question when meeting his parents... "Did either of you take pesticides prior to or during the creation of your son??!!")

Oh, and what the hee haw, Cat? I didn't even recognize that it was you. Hint, hint.

Like Lynx said, it depends...

For example I would rather have several pairs of shoes instead of one pair of really expensive ones.

But I would rather have one working battery than 20 that don't work. :p

So it all just depends. But it's usually Quality> Quantity, just not always.

Beds are a definite must have high quality situation lol!!
