Men socialize by insulting each other, but really don't mean it. Women however, seem to social by complementing each other, but don't mean it. Why does this happen?
Really? One of my best friends, a woman, thinks 'shut up' and calling people names as a joke is funny. I don't. Sure, some teasing is fine, but she is clearly way farther into it than i am. Actually more often than not i see women find insulting a way to socialize more common than men.

I'm curious now, about how you see more women insult as a form of socializing. Why do you think they do it? Maybe it's like a younger sibling pushing the buttons of the elder sibling?

I haven't really noticed it. Even my female friends like to pick on each other. I think it depends more on the group and the nature/composition of the friendship(s) than it is gender-related.

People are complicated. Everyone has some kind of psychosis of his own. Some people click some don't. Each have his own style of self expression. Every relationship is unique so we can't really judge why people act the way they do around people they care about or they dont really care about.

Hmm... reminds me of a line from a Star Trek book I read. The doctor and captain were talking about relative sanity levels. "Jim everybody has a psychosis of some sort. It's how we deal with reality. If Starfleet only accepted people who were completely sane they would have enough crew to staff one cruiser. Maybe."
I thought women socialized over shopping, kids, shopping, gossip, shopping, clothes, shopping, remodeling/decorating, shopping, food/cooking, and shopping.
