I am on Facebook because my grandsons are on it. I like to keep up with their social lives because they live so far away from me. I also like to browse art & music pages. But I hope to meet someone who is not a FB or social media addict. I'd rather have a companion who wants to join me in our own private real life adventures.

So I wanted to start a thread that would have been something like, "Click Here If You Want To Join The Club for 'People Who Don't Have Social Media!!!'"

Then I realized we'd all be meeting on CC.

As BruceWayne pointed out, CC is a form of social media.

Aw, crud...

Back to the drawing board. (Literally... if social media isn't allowed.)

But how will I be able to extend all those invitations (all 10, at least!!)

* United States Postal Service? (How will I get people's addresses?!)

* Pony Express? (I have a feeling PETA would cite cruelty to the ponies and shut it down.)

* Message in a bottle? (But how can I choose which lake/river/ocean to throw the bottles into?!)

* Carrier pigeons? (Sorry, but I don't want a bunch of birds roosting on my back porch. I don't have time to clean up all that mess!!)

Good grief.

Maybe this social media business has it's place after all. How else can I start a Club Against Social Media... except by using social media??!!

I don't have a social media account....
so, I wouldn't see why it'd be necessary for someone I could potentially date to have one.

I'm on FB because I have family all over the world and that's the best way for us all to keep in contact. I have SnapChat and Instagram because my kids are on both and that's how I keep up with them when they are away from me. I do carry my phone with me in case one of my kids have an emergency and need me; but I do not live on my phone. I think it's so rude when I see families our couples at dinner and everyone is on their phone :/

Actually all of the above are social media of a sort. Media - plural of medium, something through which something else propagates. Pony Express was a medium for social exchanges.

I hope so. Cause back in the day (yes I said it) we didn't have cellphones either so I'm hoping we did it right. If our marriage depends on social media we're in trouble.

Cell phones have been around for quite a while, but very few people had them. In my area, cell phone started getting real popular probably in the late 90's.

Cell services were first used in 1973.

I dont have a facebook.
I dont have a twitter.
I dont have a snap chap.

I dont do anything that i feel i need to tell people about. If we go out to a Chinese restaurant then thats between US not yelp/facebook/twitter . If its not related to sports(team pictures) then please no pictures. Just not my thing .
Isn't the real question more along the lines of "Can you take the time from your social media account/sports programs/television/texting/hobby to get to know someone?". In some instances, those activities could probably be replaced by "addiction".

Yes, you can date someone who doesn't have social media. Who says you can't??? If the person asks if you're on social media, tell them no that's all.

I absolutely could date someone who doesn't use social media. I actually think it's quite admirable that a person doesn't feel the need to be "plugged" in all of the time.

I would rather date someone without posting everything to social media than one who does, though I have facebook I rarely post personal stuff on it.

Honestly, I have no clue what most of the stuff ya'll are talking about. Other than Facebook. I have heard of twitter but don't mess with any of it. My FB only has family from out of state or close out of state friends. Don't use it much. All that other stuff mentioned I don't even know what it is. My G-Ma showed me we could video talk on FB. I don't get all this texting, and social media stuff. I enjoy hearing voices on the phone, or looking into someones eyes. Everything is becoming so impersonal.

My husband has Facebook but doesn't use it often; that's the extent of his social media use. Doesn't bother me at all :p

It doesn't matter, Social media wasn't God's orginal idea. Infact social media like SC, Facebook and Twitter are drama. I do own a Instagram and Facebook.
I know about every friend of mine uses SnapChat, I made a wise decision NOT to.

Heres my reason why I didnt get SnapChat.
- Way too much Drama
- There seems to be a Status Popularity(Like Instagram and Musical.ly
- SnapChat doesn't get you into Heaven, it also wastes timing we could pray, worship, read.
- I dont want fame or anything sort unless God intended for me
me having the most fans, followers makes me no different from everyone else and Im super glad in Christ family theres not a Popularity contest
