Death used to be my greatest fear. Death is an intricate part of life. If it were not so then there would be no purpose in the cycle that takes place from first breath as a newborn to last breath as an aged and weathered soul. I am not afraid of death anymore. I welcome it when it comes. I conquered that several years ago. However, I am afraid to fail God. I will not know that until my last dying breath.

My question to you:

What is your greatest fear?
You know... I have never been afraid of death. When it came down to it, I always knew that if I passed God wanted me home.

That I won't lose the weight I need to.
It takes time and dedication. It's not easy but it's possible. I've been on the journey for 17 months now. I've lost 52 lbs. You can do it!!! I have faith in you!!!

That's how I feel about it. I have peace because to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. No fear. :)

I usually don't get to comment much on here because I'm a busy, working, single mom but I like to encourage when I can. No one ever knows the impact a kind and uplifting word can make in the life of another human being. Life and death is in the power of the tongue. Why speak death when we can speak life?! And I really like you too! Lol

You don't have to worry about that. Everyone falls short of God's expectations. As imperfect humans, we're not capable of living up to God's standards. He accepts and loves us just as we are..imperfect and insufficient. As long as you love God, He will accept your faith as it is..

Isaiah 64:6 NIV:
All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.

Psalm 103:13-14:
The lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him. For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust.

I don't know if I have one anymore. Not that I've conquered any, it's just that I've been through a lot and nothing really scares me anymore, not even death. I look forward to death actually... Oh wait... Hillary winning! Yep that's it!

The more you love something/someone, the more you fear of losing it. The fear of losing your faith sounds more like because you think faith alone saved you. God is faithful. If a sinner, being under the power of the devil, cannot, in his own will, denounce the devil effectively that the devil leaves him for good, how then is it possible for a Christian, a saint, to denounce his faith so effectively that God leaves him for good?

Sorry for instigating and derailing...

What I love the most in this world, next to God, is my family. So, I guess my fear would be anything that will endanger them. But because Jesus loves my family so much more than I, I really don't have to fear anything.

Clowns, spiders, women.

In no particular order.

Oh, and I am scared of mimes and people in mascot costumes too.

Fear itself, for the thing Job feared came upon him. I think we must always be in a mindset of faith, and not doubt, because in a mindset of doubt fear arises. VVe must remain secure in God's faithfulness because He hastens to do His word. Fear then represents a mindset that does not acknowledge God's sovereignty, providence, and protection. This in mind, we need to come to not only a knowledge of God's faithfulness, but must also have faith in Him to do as He says He will.

So in actuality fear does not belong in our hearts, and we must rest in the security and peace only God can give. He never sleeps, and is ever watchful. :)

The fear of looking back on life one day and saying, "What a waste of opportunities to love, learn, be used of God and let others love me."

So Lynx, you didn't actually answer the question. Care to share with the rest of the class? I'm curious.
The only things I fear are things I am in control of, but have reason to believe I will not control.

Aside from that, life will go on until it stops. If I never marry, if I marry and it ends in a nasty divorce, if all good food vanishes and I have to eat fast food the rest of my life - life will continue until I reach the end of it.

YIG, if I were you I would put women at the top of your list. Next to poisonous spiders and killer clowns. Women are trouble. Just saying.

I guess the thing I'm scared of is the process of death....as in, what is going to kill me?

I'm not afraid of what lies after I die, since I know for certainty where I'll be :)

To fail or not be good enough. Or to one day be in debt, that would be my worst nightmare.

To not be "good enough" is a statement that focuses on our perception of ourselves. I understand the fear in that. After all we are our own worst critic. Life is always full of failures for everyone. Sometimes our focus has to shift to see the bigger picture. Instead of seeing the negative we could see an opportunity. Instead of seeing what we haven't accomplished, we could focus on what we have and reward ourselves for what we can do today. In case no one has told you today, then I will, YOU ARE MORE THAN GOOD ENOUGH. Ignore the voices that will ever tell you otherwise.
