Keeping calm is essential for every situation. I rarely get angry but if someone tries to take advantage of me I let them know it won't fly with me! Anger is sometimes necessary to get the message across especially to knuckleheads who don't get it otherwise......

I try to think rationally/not emotionally in those situations. Staying angry takes a lot of work and poisons your soul. I used to be a crazy hot head in my late teens very early 20's b/c I was stubborn about having my own way, had to deal with some difficulties and it made me quite jaded/hard on people even ones I loved. I look back now several years later and realize what I got so mad about was so trivial/stupid it was very immature of me to get mad so fast for very little things and taking it out on my friends/family.

Now if I get mad I don't stew on it but I let the person know gently/kindly that I'm not happy. But I don't hold grudges that much anymore, or rant/rave for a good hour anymore. Life is to short to stay angry and I love feeling relaxed and happy more than always negative/moody. I try to see situations through others eyes/viewpoint so that I can understand and not get all defensive fast...

One thing I do is listen to music, especially upbeat/good music I find it therapeutic and helps me keep a positive attitude about life in general. If I do get angry I generally try to separate myself for a while, cool off/calm down and rationally think about the situation and if it is my fault I apologize for it to the other person. If it isn't I go to the other person and explain why I got mad and see if they want to talk it out and resolve the situation....

I learned that rage/heavy anger is a fruit of bitterness in the soul....it's hard to get rid of but once you deal with the bitterness/callousness that life deals you, you will get less angry about things.....you got to get the weed of bitterness out of your life by asking God to help you change and He will may be slow but will eventually get there....

I'm always angry. True story. Most of the time I have no idea what I am angry about. I'm just constantly POed at something. Probably just the world in general, but sometimes at people as a species, sometimes at the loads of responsibility shoved down my throat every day, sometimes because I always seem to be running on empty spiritually, physically, emotionally.

I've been mad so much for so long I don't remember how to feel any other way.

I've never struggled with it to be honest, because to me keeping perspective is the most important thing of all. People have to understand what is, and what isn't, within their control. That's the best thing about being a believer, you have God on your side. If God is on your side, you're with the best. If you're going to try and take vengeance on your own shoulders, you're only asking for trouble. Let God do His work, and you work on resolving any negativity within yourself with God, He'll NEVER short change you and always bring justice to every situation. Establish what you believe is worth it in life, what you want out of your life and chase it, leave the rest behind otherwise it'll only hold you back.

Maintaining that ever constant relationship with the Lord can't be understated. "Is this God's will?" "What's right in this situation", process it all, take some time away, be by yourself so you can make better decisions with your thoughts, feelings and actions - it will then fall into place. Growing up my Dad always told me, "be the best Laura you can be", as a result I turned out pretty ambitious and always aimed for the stars. Being the best person I can be never involves being angry for very long, and any apprehension or disagreement I have, I can resolve pretty quickly with the Lord and carry on. God speed!

There is so much to get angry about. Sometimes I get angry about other people not being angry about stuff they should be angry about.

I'm angry at Laura for stealing my answer. :p This is exactly what I was planning to say when I read the thread title, then I found she had already said it all.

The one thing she didn't steal is a quote I read somewhere.
"He who angers you controls you."

You can lessen your anger by adopting a more positive outlook and by being more tolerant.. But i do not believe you can eliminate anger episodes completely from your life.. When the anger wells up inside us we can cut it short.. That is turn it into a short duration experience rather then something that smolders inside you for hours or days.. The best thing to do is pray to God and acknowledge to Him that your anger against others is not right in His sight and also pray for the person you have been angry with.. We can jump on our anger quickly if we want too..

i don't get angry often. the times i do, i get very quiet because i don't want to say something i will regret. i walk away from said angry situation to process my thoughts. then i come back after i have cooled down and work something out.

I'm in a constant state of anger broken up by tiny bits of happiness. Usually alcohol helps me forget I'm angry, but it runs out and then I get angry again. Mostly about how stupid this generation is, stuff like that. Also my being an avid gambler and keep getting screwed on games doesn't help things much. Anyway angry rant over.

I haven't conquered anger. There are things that get me very angry.
I.e. someone showing injustice to someone else, or "Christians" acting or talking with awful behavior or words.
There are a few other thingd, but other then that I can compose myself and my anger haha

Glory to God for those of you who are truthful about the weakness of the flesh. The truth is, anger takes many forms: underlying jealousy, boasting, unforgiveness, spite, critical spirit, self-righteousness, fear & frustration, stubbornness, intolerance, hate, revenge, etc., which every one of us is vulnerable to in our flesh.

Romans 8 tells us that it’s impossible for our flesh to ever submit to God, “The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.”

Ephesians 4 tells us, “Let all unforgiveness, outrage, anger, quarreling, and slander be put away from you, along with all hatred.”

In other words, each time these things arise in our flesh, we have to be honest and admit it to God and he removes it. That's the work of grace. Not something we have conquered, but that Christ does each step of the way.

1 John 2:16
For everything in the world – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--comes not from the Father but from the world.

God isn't glorified to the world through our flesh but through our trusting him and him working things out in us.

Galatians 5, ““But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, tolerance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control."

This is the result of God doing a thing in us. When we boast that these things are the result of our own self-control, it's very obvious to others that it's self-righteousness. It stinks and does not have the sweet odor of the Spirit of Jesus Christ.

I John I teaches us, “The message of God from the beginning has been that God is Light and in Him alone is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet we walk in our own understanding, we are lying to ourselves and don’t practice the truth. If we walk in His light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have conquered sin in our flesh, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we admit our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.”

If we don't get along with our brothers and sisters in Christ; if we can't fellowship with them in peace, joy and love; if we look for opportunity to contradict others and lift ourselves up; we aren't at that point walking in the spirit but in our own understanding and in our own strength. Nevertheless, all we need do is be honest with ourselves and realize that it's God working in us, that he is always in control and we're set free to fellowship with one another in love. :)

There’s never a time where we are in control over our flesh. “Let him who thinks he stand, take heed (be aware) or else he will fall.” The only way we are a conqueror is remembering that Jesus is in control, that our flesh has been crucified with Christ. It's a continual giving up your own understanding, your pride, and accepting the truth of God.

So in answer to your question, have I conquered anger: Nope! But Jesus has. It's a daily walk, from glory to glory that he conforms us all into his image. And praise the Lord for that!!! May he be glorified! Hallelujah!! \:eek:/
