We use them all the time. To me, it is a little dumb not to. It's free money.

I rarely use them because most of what I buy is fresh produce, meat and store brand items. Sometimes the grocery will have a buy-one-get-one-free sale on their brands so I take advantage of those. Their receipt sometimes has a coupon printed on it that I might use. But for the most part, I don't use them very much.

I look for the BOGO's too.

To double-post because I am such a rule-breaking, trolling, catfishing, sock-puppet, trouble-maker:

I've got a rewards card to my local grocery store chain that allows me to add digital coupons to it so when I check out, they are automatically taken care of for me. Easy, and saves me a lot of time. I still browse through the coupon circulars that come by on Wednesday here, but don't generally find anything in them that we use here at the haus.

I use promo codes when I buy things online on occasion, but as far as actual physical coupons, I've never used one.

I have a couple of apps on my phone that I use to save money. I do use coupons when they're worth it. I have the Target Cartwheel app and I look through that when I'm shopping there to see if they have anything I'll use. Sometimes there are some pretty good deals on that, worth the download. For groceries I usually shop at Aldi and save money that way.

Am I the only one who would be more than a little curious to see Yahweh's "rule-breaking, trolling, catfishing, trouble-making..." sock puppet?! That sounds like it would deserve a thread all by him and/or herself, depending on what gender this mythical sock puppet identifies itself as...

I grew up in a circle of people for whom saving money is like an Olympic event:

"I bought this jar of pickles on sale, with a coupon."

"Oh yeah? I got this tube of toothpaste on sale, with a coupon, on a BOGO, and with a rebate!"

Years ago, a friend's little brother got a great deal on a truck and he came home and said, very proudly, "I was a GOOD German!" LOL.

I look for deals whenever I can, but am definitely not crazy or obsessive about it. I don't fist fight anyone for the last 2 bottles of $1 hand soap just because I have a 25-cent coupon, nor do I stalk grocery stores and gas stations on Sunday morning so that I can steal all the coupon flyers from all the Sunday papers (which is how many "Coupon Clubs" "get" their coupons.)

But I definitely won't pass up a chance to save money, especially when it's right on front of me.

I know this goes against the grain, but if a date took me to McDonald's and used a coupon, I wouldn't even blink. To me, it's just a sign of smart money management.

And hopefully it wouldn't throw him if I said, "Hold up! Let me check... (pulls out ever-present coupon wallet) I think I have (a coupon) even better than that one!"

Hey, I'm just trying to be helpful. :D

I use credit card rewards amounts and coupons whenever I get any in the mail. Sadly, it is not often enough.

I always use them online....a great website to bookmark is
retailmenot.com where people post online coupons for amazon, ebay etc....to save on shipping or give percentage discounts and they do add up....if you have 10% off your purchase of $100 that's $10 saved which is great! Always use coupons it saves some spare cash you'd otherwise be throwing away basically....

Oh man, I forgot to make "Never" one of the poll choices. I even thought about it before I started typing... -_-

Not as much as I should be using them. :/

Just last night I took a cab from school to office and I didn't know I had a coupon of $5 that was expiring that day. :/

I also have coupons with my receipt I never knew existed after they expired. :/ I should pay more attention if I wanna pay less. (pun intended).

Never - all money off etc tends to be via electronic promotions and loyalty cards
over this side of the pond.

So you get a loyalty card, buy something and for every £ spent you get points.

Points make prizes - well money off anyway.

For example Holland & Barrets a health food, natural cosmetics place, give you a card. You collect
points with each purchase. Then they email you electronic vouchers and you just turn up in
store next time you want to buy something and show them the email on your phone etc.
They often have buy one item and get a second item for a penny (1 cent) or buy one get
one half price. So I use all my electronic vouchers when they have one of these offers on.

Other places give you a card and with each purchase over a certain amount you get a
stamp, collect so many stamps and you get something for free next time.

Another good one which has saved me loads off is the Asda supermarket (owned by Walmart).
They guarantee you their stuff is 10% cheaper than the other 4 leading supermarkets in the
UK. If not they refund you the difference. Or in my case I do on line shopping so they send
you electronic vouchers to spend on your next shop - the amount is deducted from your
next bill.

Kroger here in my town (we call them Payless here) mails you coupons for their store. We use them when they do that. Ive never like went out hunting for them or anything, though : p If its not accessible, I wont go out of my way for it.

I use things like rewards cards and stuff for stores all the time, though. And at my work, we get a 20% discount on all products, so I like to use that when I can.

Almost never. I don't go out of my way to find coupons and when I do happen to see a coupon it's never for anything I want. IF I happen to find a coupon and IF it's for something I want, I'll use it.

There are two roadblocks between me and using coupons. One is, "It's not a bargain if you don't need it." And most things they make coupons for, I have no interest in or get a better brand for less money online.

The second is:

I use them if they apply, and will make the item out cheaper! Not all coupons do that for me. 55 cents off name brand when store brand is 70 cents cheaper, and I like the item in store brand, doesn't save me. I also won't buy 2 items of anything when a coupon requires it unless it's a really good savings and I know I'll use both.
But, I will use them if it saves me. And I always look at them on a weekly basis.

I find more luck with apps.. cartwheel for Target, Ibotta. Ibotta is really great. Download on your phone. And then you choose your store and you're presented with deals. "75 cent cash back if you buy Weber BBQ sauce" or "25 cent cash back if you buy any brand cereal" or "1.00 cash back if you buy Knorr sides" etc. The $ goes into your account and once you hit $25, you get that money via PayPal. I've earned $35 and change through it. And it's stuff I would get, anyway. Really neat app for extra savings.

No such thing in Norway

Most stores have sales quite often though (so often that it is a dead giveaway that the "normal" prices are indeed not normal but way too high :p )

I used to be into it big time. About 8 years ago, my sister told me about it and got me started. I had just had my first baby and after coupons and getting rewards at the store, I ended up getting diapers free. I was hooked. Shampoo, toothpaste, all the toiletries, diapers, a ton of stuff we hardly paid anything for. But, as kids got older, we got busier, and honestly, I don't see great deals around like I did then, I dropped off using them so much. Now that it is just me, I definitely don't have the time for it. I do a quick check before going to the stores, but that's it. I do a monthly trip to the local warehouse club and they send a coupon book. I will go through that and see what they have coupons for that I can use and combine with manufacturer coupons if I can and I'll look at the store ads and see if I can match a coupon. I cheat though and use a database online so it takes less than just a few minutes to search for any coupons I would want. And with it just being me and 2 part-time kids that don't eat much, I only have to do that once or twice a month.
