My given Christian name gets automatically shortened quite frequently, much to my dismay. So often in fact that when people do call me by my full name it sometimes sounds weird! Honestly, when I have just met someone and I have told them my name is Xxxxxxx, and they immediately call me Xxxx, I wonder what just happened to cause almost half of my name to disappear??? And why do people think it is okay to do that, to take such liberties and call me something that is not my name?

I had one guy at work arguing with me about it once. His argument was that it should be acceptable simply because so many people do it! However, when I shortened his name and started calling Keith "Th" he got so upset he could not carry on the conversation, got up, and stormed out of the room.

Sometimes I see the last three letters of my name on a license plate, and I think to myself, oh, it did not disappear into a black hole after all :D:rolleyes:

As for Magenta, people shorten that and it does not bother me. Maggie, Mags, M, haha it is all good. Some people even call me Magneta. I guess that is the female version of Magneto? I must be very powerful :D
My sister's name is Magenta Eve Amber Dawn.

I think Magenta is a beautiful name.

My Christian names are Joël Daniël but my family will call me Danie or Daan (Danie is not pronounce like Danny but a longer and harder a)

I always disliked the name Joël but I had to repent when I saw the strong meaning in the name.

At university I was called Gandalf but that is a story for another time... when we are all older than 18 :p

I'm guessing... YOU'RE the spooky doll.

So yes. Either way, I am scared.

I won't go down without a fight, though.

Don't make me drag you on this, Roh!!! Because I SO will. :D

Would you believe at first glance I thought that was a newfangled shoe?

On the topic of scary dolls only being female:

I mean, there's also the dummy from Goosebumps, and the one from 'the boy', and the one from the Saw series, the one from Dead Silence, and several others...but I've moved on from the movie buff aspect of my life...so....eh.
