Instead of movie lines, let's find some of your favorite quotes from books. They can be from any genre! :)

What are some of your favorites?

Mine currently is this:

"Then he isn't safe?" said Lucy. "Safe?" said Mr. Beaver; "don't you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? 'Course he isn't safe. But he's good. He's the King, I tell you." The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

“Why must people kneel down to pray? If I really wanted to pray I’ll tell you what I'd do. I'd go out into a great big field all alone or in the deep, deep woods and I'd look up into the sky—up—up—up—into that lovely blue sky that looks as if there was no end to its blueness. And then I'd just feel a prayer.”

“I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”

“People laugh at me because I use big words. But if you have big ideas, you have to use big words to express them, haven't you?”

- L.M Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

[A war is starting to fight off an evil man that is ruling the land.
Jonatan and Skorpan are the brothers]
'...but I cannot kill anyone', Jonatan said 'you know that, Orvar
'If all were like you' Orvar said 'evil would reign for ever.'
but then I said that if all were like Jonatan, there wouldn't be any evil.

- The Brothers Lionheart (Astrid Lindgren)

Pity? It was pity that stayed Bilbo's hand. Many that live deserve death. Some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo? Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement.

- The fellowship of the ring (JRR Tolkien)

Nowdays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing

- The picture of Dorian Grey, Oscar Wilde

I envy thee not thy faith, which is ever in thy mouth, but never in thy heart nor in thy practice

Ivanhoe, (Sir) Walter Scott

The danger, of course, is that we spend time imagining that we would be happier elsewhere, and forget to cultivate happiness where fate has placed us.

Only love is real. The opposite of love is fear. When we think lovelessly, we are not thinking at all. We are hallucinating and that is what this world is. A mass hallucination where fear seems more real than love. The way out of fear is open the mind to love. Love casts out fear the way light cast out darkness and this shift from fear to love is the miracle. - marriane williamson " return to love"

I have to check my clippings! There are so many! The following are what I have saved from my favorite books:

"Repentance will not make you see Christ; but to see Christ will give you repentance."
― Charles Spurgeon, All of Grace

"If I live for my glory and for my fame, then I am empty. At the end of it all, like Solomon, I will hate life."
― Joseph Prince, A Life Worth Living

"Men are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves; they, therefore remain bound."
― James Allen, As A Man Thinketh

"God made you for a purpose. It is important and beautiful. Your life is a gift to you and to the world around you."
― Lacey Sturm, The Reason

“Effective evangelism requires relationships. There are very few exceptions.”
― Nabeel Qureshi, Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus: A Devout Muslim Encounters Christianity

“It’s not where you start, but whether you start.”
― Terri Savelle Foy, Make Your Dreams Bigger Than Your Memories: Don't Let Your Past Keep You From Your Future

"We could all have been killed - or worse, expelled." - Hermione Granger from Harry Potter

I can definitely relate to her a lot. Such a funny quote.

"Height?" he asked.
"Medium. About an inch taller than you."
"That is tall," he insisted severely.

"I hope to convince you in the following pages that God never intended anyone to sail his [her] own boat, without assistance, through the uncharted waters of life and ministry. All of us need help. And the greater the task, the more help we need. Strange and unwholesome things happen to those who fail to stay close to others."

Ok here's a serious one from a book I read when I was still in high school...

“To win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the highest skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the highest skill.”

- Joe Hyams, Zen In The Martial Arts

It kind of goes with the scripture that says, "Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God" (from The Beatitudes)
