With all this talk about hair and earrings and noses (nose hair, specifically), I was wondering what you all think about nose rings for women?

I was reading about Isaac and Rebekah and the nose ring (Genesis 24:30) and I was wondering about people's perception of it. I am Asian and where I live, there are always women with nose rings, some of them very intricately designed.

Would you wear a nose ring?
Why and why not?

I sneeze so often it would just be in my way :p ... and I very rarely use any kind of jewellery.
I imagine it must , uh, interfere with the nose's job of filtering out stuff?

I'm not against it though, it's up to the wearer if they want it

I use to have one, among lots of other piercings. I took them out bc I wanted to be taken seriously as a new mother, back when I was a new one.. Would I do it again? No. Only bc I like to just be able to wash my face without cleaning jewelry after.. I do like them on others tho

Nose rings are absolutely necessary if you own a bull that needs to be led around by the nose!

I find facial art to be very distracting. As in, it's hard for me to look a person in the eyes if they have tattoos or piercings on their face because my vision is drawn to the metal/ink. I have to keep refocusing my attention back to the eyes of the person to whom I'm talking, often multiple times a minute. I'm less this way with earrings, but a little bit.

Again, this is my own personal quirk. It's not to throw stones at those who sport nose rings or other piercings :).

What is up with everyone wanting to get inked or have steel shoved in them? Lets keep it the way God made it.

Quote from a video game called Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
"I think I broke my ring when I was beating up that guy."
"You wear rings?"
"Lots of people wear rings."
"Yeah, lots of girls wear rings..."
"What's wrong with rings?"
"Look all I'm saying is there are only two kinds of guys who wear rings. And I don't remember you winning the super bowl."

Of course times have changed since that game came out in 2004...

I have no issue with nose rings. There is an arbitrary line of self-decoration that goes past my personal preference, but a nose ring doesn't cross that line.

No, because it can be unsanitary and it would hurt.. But if you sneeze alot, I imagine it might make a good booger catcher.. lol

I've never been a fan of nose rings and was even less so when a friend of mine in college got one and had nothing but problems (she even had to let it grow closed and got it pierced again.)

But that's just me, and I have no problems with other people getting them--especially when it's a cultural norm.

What is up with everyone wanting to get inked or have steel shoved in them? Lets keep it the way God made it.
I am often surprised that many Christians apparently aren't familiar with the story of Rebekah, Isaac's wife, in the Bible.

Remember how Eliezer, Abraham's servant, prayed to God that he would find the right wife for his master's son? And that the right woman would offer to draw water for him and his camels as well?

When Rebekah had finished passing the test, Eliezer rewarded her with several gifts:

Gen. 24:22 -- Then at last, when the camels had finished drinking, (Eliezer) took out a gold nose ring weighing a beka and two bracelets weighing ten shekels.

And, in Eliezer's own words:

Gen. 24:47 -- I asked her, "Whose daughter are you?" ... Then I put the ring in her nose, and the bracelets on her arms.

Rebekah, the wife of Isaac and mother of Jacob, clearly wore a nose ring.

I wouldn't mind my girlfriend (who I don't have yet) having a very small one or just a piercing. Although I know some in my church would flip a lid. But who cares.

I don't think I would mind a woman occasionally wearing a fancy clip-ring as in the picture AZ shared. Piercings are another matter to me; I personally find body piercings (other than ears) to be revolting. It's a visceral reaction, more than a conscious dislike. Then again, my cultural background is British/Canadian, which does not tend to favour anything more than earrings.

Thankful the gf only has her ears pierced. :)

I dread the day she looks like she fell face-first into a tackle box.
