Because a true christian partner is rare endangered species.

There are no shortcuts to the beautiful things in life like finding a true christian partner. Getting to know someone on a deeper level takes vulnerability and intimacy. Viewing a potential partner as evil will never get you near that first step towards vulnerability and intimacy. People are complicated, let them reveal who they really are first.

On the contrary, I don't know if this is true...

One of the best things about getting older:

Knowing someone is evil before they even speak.

We are all in different stages of our growth as Christians. A lot of the people we meet are also at different stages in their walk with God needing Him to work with them through various issues as He changes us. So when we set mental benchmarks and hurdles that a prospective partner has to clear before getting the nod, it pays to remember that we too need God to shape our own live so that we can BE the right person for someone else.

One other thing that comes to mind is that once we find that genuine Christian person, the search doesn't end there. There is also the question of chemistry and other factors as well. You may meet a person that is so into the Lord that the chariot that took Enoch and Elijah to heaven alive, may to on its way down to pick them up. However if they can't connect with you and the chemistry isn't right then their genuine faith (as vital as it is) won't be enough.
As a true christian your main concern should be about your partners faith. i.e is he or she a child of God or a child of the devil. all other things like connection, shared interests, sense of humor etc will fall in pace later on. its like you don't know what it means to have a Christian marriage, Christianity and not worldly/lustful connection is the glue that glues a Christian man and Christian woman together in marriage.

Pete so far all I know about you is that you are terrified of being married to an evil woman. I don't know anything except that one fact because THAT'S ALL YOU POST! I don't know your hobbies, likes, dislikes... nothing else.

Go to the Streams of Consciousness thread and make a post about... well, anything else. Talk about what you did today or what you plan to do tomorrow. Give us something, ANYTHING besides this one record you keep playing over and over again. Please?

Pete should not be surprised if he eventually marries an evil woman because it's all that he could think about. Unfounded fears can become real.

Guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life.

Although I agree with some of this, personality does matter. Sure, two real Christians could make a marriage last even if they had very different personalities, but why put yourself in such a position. A sense of humor doesn't just fall into place either. You either have that easy going personality and sense of humor or you don't. Some people are more intense or quiet and not likely to be anything radically different even when they become comfortable with others or a spouse. It is not worldly but common sense to marry someone with a compatible personality.

An emotional person will better fit with a logical one. If both are emotional, it will always be war of emotions. If both are logical, it will be a boring relationship. Balance is a good thing.
