I'm horrible at keeping info on people. I know how to get to their home but I wouldn't be able to recite an address.. I do like the idea. They have beautiful cards. I can't bring myself to keep after an address book.

gah! she's right, i'd also have to have the address book updated!
and locate it. :(

i used to send many cards when the kids were small, and then i became ill.

feeling better now, and i could do it, but i feel just awful i didn't mail Darlene and Jerry's anniversary card in time.

and it's not like i'm still trying to avoid the kids.

so i voted mailman and other for UPS guy. and when i say i give a card, what i mean is my husband does.

I have 67 first cousins, 48 aunts and uncles, not to mention all the further-out cousins, my husband has a smaller family but still quite a few, all my friends, a few work people and contacts (we send out a company card to clients, vendors and such)....I keep hallmark in business this time of year. This year I will address and mail over 200 cards total (counting the company cards). It takes me less than an hour to address everything with the use of computers, but boy howdy it used to take me DAYS to get them all done.
Then I hand cards to the postman, ups drivers, fedex, and vendor drivers along with a plate of candy and cookies, teachers, principals and school personnel get cards (when the kids were younger) that we made together the Saturday after Thanksgiving each year.....I give mostly handmade gifts or cards to a BUNCH of people each year!!
I'm a One Woman Christmas Card Machine!! LOL

the candle stick maker really love my Christmas cards every year lol Just kidding no I do not send out cards I can not afford to and most people get them look for money or a gift card inside then throw them away anyways so it is a waste of paper stamps time effort etc... NO me on the other hand I look for money gift card then keep them at least until the new year then throw them away unless they are picture Christmas cards with family photos then i keep them.

No offense taken. No not an LDS family, just a big ol' southern family. We rent park pavillions for family gatherings because they average over 100 people ALL related!

Oddly enough...with all the baking, cards and candy making I do during the Christmas season....I don't buy many "gifts" at all.

I don't send cards... I force people to experience me in person.

It's kind of like making them do penance before they can celebrate.

How about, "Any Gullible Fool Who Makes the Mistake of Giving Me Their Address..."

Some people may have noticed :), but I'm really into written communication, so Christmas cards used to be a HUGE thing for me. It was more like a Christmas package: first, there was the card. Then there was a typed, 4-page annual letter. For some, I'd include something handmade, like a bracelet or bookmark. And finally, to make sure it had that "personal" touch instead of feeling mass-produced, I'd hand-write a personal message to the recipient and sign my name to each and every card or letter. I also enjoyed picking out just the right stamps (for example, birds in the snow for my Grandpa because he loves nature), and decorating the envelopes with stickers or stencils.

About 3 years ago I sent out something like 60+ cards. It was a huge project that took me several weeks to do (and I started in October.)

I think I heard from 3 people in return. And it's not that I was giving in order to get, but after that, I just figured... I'll concentrate my time and efforts on the people who really want to keep in touch.

And so, this year... I'm sending out roughly 6 cards.

With all that spare time, I might even have a minute to eat cookies and drink eggnog.

I think that is lovely, though. Sending out that many Christmas cards, each one just right. They probably appreciated them, even though they did not send you one back. But, it might be better to concentrate on just the really intimate ones.
