Talking about Christmas movies, there is one thing I have been puzzled by for a long time. With all the catastrophes that Santa Claus nearly averted, how do we still have Christmas? Every movie there is something happening that, if left unchecked, will ruin Christmas for ever. And every time Santa Claus just barely pulls it off. You would think that one of these catastrophes he would drop the ball.

How about we join forces and make a movie.
Christmas is ruined, and ... let's see ... what else never happens?
- The hero isn't American (nor British)
- The main good-guy character dies
- The villain isn't scarred or old or has a strange pet or a evil laugh, nor is he from Russia or China.
- The villain ends up with the girl

It's a beautiful short story, if you've never read it.

My favorites are:

It's A Wonderful Life
A Christmas Carol ( Alistair Sim version)
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Miracle on 34th Street
The Little Drummer Boy

Although I wouldn't list it as a favorite, I do love Elf starring Will Ferrell. I appreciate the humor :)

The Christmas Carol (George Campbell Scott)

Home Alone

Its a Wonderful Life

Elf

The Polar Express

The Grinch (Jim Carey & The original cartoon)

The Nativity movies

The Santa Claus (Tim Allen)

Childhood classics (Rudolph, Frosty)

Charlie Brown Christmas

Santa Paws

I don't care that I'm too adult for some of them, I like the feeling they bring me. Fortunately I've always had a kid or grandkid around as an excuse to watch them lol.

I have it in one of my anthologies, I haven't read The Grass Harp or seen the movie. The sad thing is, after his sweet aunts died, or his parents divorced, or something like that, Capote was sent off to military school where he had a hellish time. I wonder what life would have been for him if he could have stayed with those kind aunts.

I typically dislike Christmas movies. They're either incredibly saccharine or shallow or preachy.

That said, I enjoy movies like Gremlins and Die Hard.
This made me laugh completely out loud.
