I got a box of candy from someone this Christmas. They don't know I don't eat sweets. I accepted it graciously but told my Dad to eat it. He likes sweets. No problemo.

Talking about regifting, you need to be careful about that holiday fruitcake. Some scientists intercepted a fruitcake and tested it, turned out it was nine years old. It had never been opened, it just got shipped back out every year to another family.

My Husband loves that preschool kid's give me chocolate for all holidays. I eat a couple and pass the rest on to him. When I see him after a school party he's always asking about the candy.

A few Christmases ago I received a late gift from a married couple at a Boxing Day barbecue at their home. In front of at least a dozen other guests I unwrapped my gift and discovered a bottle of Amarula, a creme liqueur. I don't drink. Amarula is made using the Marula fruit found in my part of the world. Its popular with elephants which often walk up to a tree, shake it and then gorge on the fruit that falls on the ground. They can get quite drunk on the fermented bits they eat.

The other item in that box was a Manchester United football jersey. I have been a Liverpool Supporter since I was 8.

I love them dearly but eish :( they really shouldn't have. I gave the soccer top to my nephew. I can't remember what I did with the Amarula (...hic...:p)
Oh cool... I woulda loved a Manchester United jersey over anything I got this year. Even though Benfica is my team :)

I remember my sisters husbands brother came down for a visit from West Africa. He brought me a shirt from that end. Its a bright green nylon shirt with some flowery patterns on it. The kind of bright that announces your arrival as you are entering lower earth orbit. I have not been able to bring myself to put it on. I tried but I couldn't.... I just couldn't.[...fade in the violin and the sound of gut wrenching sobs....]

That reminds me Lenard. My late grandmother gave me a hideous hand stitched salmon colored button down shirt from her country when I was a teen.

I think the shirt looks pretty neat now. Good thing I kept it.

Okay. Good point. Oh I have kept the shirt. i'm sure it'll look good in my lifetime. Besides, the guy put a lot of effort in getting it made.

Haha. Maybe it will never be an everyday shirt, but you never know when a bright green nylon top will come in handy :D:D

by "handy" I'm sure you are thinking of a "Castaway" scenario where after 5 hard years I finally put said shirt on and get some good insulation from the night cold. It also gets me seen by someone...on an airbus en route to Argentina.

I once received a gift certificate to go get a manicure or pedicure...I had no idea what to do with it. I put it away and then forgot about it. Sadly, I found it after it expired. Going to the "nail salon" has never been my thing but it was a nice thought.

My mother is currently making me a blanket out of yarn... I have a serious disdain for yarn and everyone knows it... To top it off its light pink, dark pink and white... Breast cancer ribbons all over for the theme... Super hideous
