People speaking about it in Hallmark quotes isn't going to ever explain it to me. It's just one of those things on the list of things I don't understand. I think it's silly.

It was a play, and every time we rehearsed, the nose did more of the kissing (it was on the cheek).

but! my daughters celebrate February 14th as "Pal"entines Day with their friends.

So getting back to the original topic...

I'd like to go down to the beach and watch the waves and see all the beautiful coupl--... ummm no scratch that... I'd like to treat myself to a nice dinner at a nice restaurant where I can enjoy the ambience along with all the beautiful coup--... scratch that too!! ...Ok...ok... I'd want to go see a cool movie and watch some hero win over a beautiful.... AAHHH!! Forget it. I'm staying home! :mad:

man. it's been so long since i paid attention to it (elementary school) i didn't realize what a couples' day it has become. :(

stay home with some pals, zt!

I kind of wish I was a bit more flush with money so I could take myself out to a nice dinner on V-Day...and sit there, completely alone, ad enjoy every single morsel of it while enjoying all the "cute couples" staring at the greying, slightly chubby, weird dude eating at a table by himself.

...but I like messing with people.

If you really enjoy messing with people, order a second meal to be placed across the table from you and hold an ongoing conversation with the "person" sitting across from you.

No judgment here. "nice restaurant" only has meaning when it is compared to a "not nice restaurant". Denny's is fairly high-brow for me. Perkins is way to fancy for me.

In my church they sometimes celebrate certain days, like
on Mothering Sunday, they often buy daffodils and give a small bunch to
every mother in the church. (That's a lot of mothers, our congregation is over a 1000).
All the non mothers sit there trying to look pleased for the mothers. :rolleyes:

Maybe they should give out roses to all adults who are single on Valentine's Day.
