I haven't seen a good movie in such a long time. I can't remember what the last good one was..

The problem is that when you've
A) seen hundreds of movies and
B) have experience in life
You can see certain things coming from a mile away, and also certain other things are cliches.

Hidden Figures had both of thse elements, but it was still enjoyable and even a bit educational - which is something that has proven hard for Hollywood t do.

Hacksaw Ridge was good, the Desmond Doyle story.

Thanks for correcting me, I keep saying Desmond Doyle for some reason.

I'd have to say The Imitation Game.

To the OP- in theaters? Hacksaw Ridge.

At home?

Remember with Christopher Plummer. The first half of the film is slow, but the second half will have you on the edge of your seat.

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but I like movies with MB in them.
Get the DVD for Street Car.
Probably one of the top 25 movies ever.

I wish there was a film version with Jessica Tandy as Blanche. According to Karl Malden on the commentary, he thought she was a better Blanche than Vivien Liegh, but as all the principals were unknown- Tandy was out and Liegh was in. Tandy was the only one who had appeared in the Broadway version and not in the film. It must have been a hard pill to swallow. Liegh was great, but I'd like to see Tandy's interpretation. Malden said Tandy was a more fragile Blanche.

I know this isn't a movie, but my brother got me hooked on WestWorld.

One plot twist especially threw me for a loop (which is a pun on an integral part of the series, for anyone out there watching it.)

I'm totally into stories of artificial intelligence/a creation that becomes self-aware, especially when it becomes argumentative and inquisitive of its creator.

This is because it always reminds me of my own such conversations with God, and how He must feel about that.

Plus, Anthony Hopkins is just the bomb.

It's hard to imagine another actor playing it as well as Liegh, but you just can't be sure either. I know Tandy was having fits over losing the audience sympathy to Brando. She actually went to a therapist to talk about it.

I think there is a medium length audio version of the 1947 or '48 theater Street Car on Youtube. Of course it isn't the same as the visual...

My dad took us to see Westworld at the drive-in theater when it first came out. Loved it! :D

Kazan probably LOVED that! It probably made Tandy even more fragile as Blanche. Malden seemed to think Tandy was better, and alluded that Kazan was not entirely pleased with Liegh- she had played Blanche a certain way on the London stage, and wasn't open to Kazan's direction (this is all according to Malden, who was good friends with Tandy and Cronyn- so might be biased).

Thanks for telling me about the audio version. I'll have to check it out. It seems like everything really is on youtube.

Well it may have been better for Leigh not to do it, academy award aside. Most people that knew her say she was never the same after that movie.
At least Brando didn't pursue her off stage. That would have probably made her more fragile.
He may have been partly responsible for the suicide of the woman that played the daughter in One Eye Jacks from what I read.

We saw Rouge 1 (Star Wars). We enjoyed it. I mostly like the old classic movies. :)

Wasn't Liegh bipolar, though? I don't know if it was one part that could have sent her over the edge. I haven't seen One Eye Jacks, but I honestly don't believe that people are responsible for the suicide of another. Anyone who is in such a low mental state to take their own life- well, the person has deep seated problems that are not attributable to circumstances.
