... your early forties, to something where your actually below average.
Or to have about average looks, but you age so well that when your 60 you look like your 45.

I would prefer the latter.
Although I am sometimes curious as to how people may have responded or regarded me when I was younger if I have been very attractive as opposed to being the average looking person I am.
People that I know that have had movie star like looks say it is not always a blessing, that it is a curse at times

Call me shallow, but I'd rather have the looks. There was a time in my life when women seemed to pay a lot of attention to me and if not for that, at least people in general treated me a lot better during that time than they do now. Now if I even tried to get a woman's attention I'd probably get laughed at..

I'd much rather be average looking and age gracefully. I'm too introverted to have the time and inclination to deal with all the attention you get from idiots who think they should interrupt your life and talk to you just because they think you're good looking. And if it was something I did put a lot of stock in then losing it would be difficult and unpleasant. I'd rather miss good looks like I miss having a third arm (might be useful occasionally, but I've gone my whole life without so it doesn't seem necessary).

I know a guy who would not hit on a beautiful girl because he thinks she is a heart breaker. Some assume that good looking people are already taken. I would rather be average because this world can make you prideful because of good looks.

Then there is the opposite... where people think you are nice looking but you have no idea because nobody tells you just assuming you know you are beautiful, while you think yourself barely passable and maybe even bordering on ugly, which you do not understand to be a lie you have told yourself until you are well into your thirties when you look at pictures of a younger you and the light begins to dawn that you are not ugly at all, and all those people who were afraid of you because they thought you were beautiful treated you a certain way because their insecurities automatically rejected beautiful people because they thought they were ugly, too. #truestory.

Better late then never M.
No sooner do you discover that you are really not such a bad looking person after all than you begin aging faster to the point where your hair and teeth are slowly but surely falling out and you go through the change of life and have to do selective logging on your face to prevent the growth of a beard and moustache and over the years from when you were really skinny but always thought you were fat you slowly gain weight until you are many pounds heavier than you ever were coming to understand what being fat really is and then people see you as the ugly person you once thought you were HAHAHAHAHAHAHA :D

I'm happy with the way I look. I'll never be a stunner, but my family ages very well. Even when my grandparents were old, (They had had a hard life and they looked quite old), they had a youthful, happy look that came from walking with the LORD. I would like to be like that :)

But if I had to choose between the two options...I'd choose the latter, probably. I'm glad God doesn't give us those kind of choices :D

I'd like to be average looking and age gently.

I'm ugly as a mud fence and I'm aging like...milk.

It really doesn't matter :) (Being a dairy farmer, I had do laugh at your analogy of aging like milk lol).

Personally, I've always struggled to be content with my looks. People tell my I'm cute, pretty, etc... but I've always been skeptical about flattering comments. The old people probably just have a biased opinion because they like me, guys are just being guys and seeing how I react, and in cases of people on the internet the pictures they are basing their opinion on are probably just really good pictures. I don't know, I guess I'm just a suspicious person. :/
