Hey everyone,

Every now and then we like to joke here in Singles about things such as an old-fashioned dowry, in which the groom gives the bride's family a gift in exchange for her hand in marriage.

Just for fun, what things would win YOUR family over and convince them to happily marry you off?

I can tell you right now that a goat or a chicken would not impress my Dad at all.

However... If you gave him a state-of-the-art golf club, I might be in some trouble.

And if you were to give him an entire SET of brand-new clubs, that would pretty much guarantee I'd need to start packing (and I don't even live with my parents!)

What about you? What kind of dowry/payment would have your family sending you down the aisle faster than you can say, "I do!"?

This is meant to be a fun, lighthearted thread that everyone can answer... Guys and girls... married and single. For our married friends... What do you know you could have given your spouse's family, or what could they have given yours, ir order to hurry the process along?

(And by the way, no exchanges or refunds! :p)

Happy posting! :D

It depends.

I'm pretty sure the next question is going to be, "What kind of beer?" :p

For her mother i'd give jewelry & father one of the new iphones. I'm not old fashioned but it would be pretty funny to give her parents a bucket of KFC for her hand in marriage.

That was when I get back to circles again, after a relapse, but lose the job again, for not changing my data.

In my family there is a running joke that my uncle gave my grandmother a mule and two donkeys for my aunt's hand in marriage.

As for what my family would take, nothing. In my family you become a part of our family. We never lose anybody to some other family.
