Hey Everyone :)!

Just for fun, what are some "special talents" you or someone you know are good at... But yet you're pretty sure that you could never earn a paycheck from them?

For example:

+ I have a relative who can bend their arm backwards around their head. I don't think Barnum & Bailey's (Circus) is hiring right now, but boy, can it be entertaining to watch.

+ My Dad doesn't cook, but I'm always amazed that he can tell my Mom exactly which dish to use for the leftovers, and it's always THE perfect size. (I came to envy this as an adult because I usually misjudge, needlessly dirtying 2 or 3 containers instead of just one.)

+ I once took a standardized test in school (and I'm not very good at them as it is), but the part I did best on got totally thrown out when being considered for the program I was applying to. I had to kind of shake my head at the fact that apparently, what I can do well in... Apparently doesn't count in the real world!!!

How about you?

What are some things you're really, really good at... But seem to lack a practical purpose?

i happen to be a great test taker.

i'm also really, really good at getting lost when my husband gives me directions like this:
"turn east and drive 100 yards." (huh? what am i, a compass?? and how far is 100 yards?)

so if anyone knows of gainful employment in either test taking or getting lost, please PM me. :)

Ellie, I think you and I are one in the same in getting lost. I went out with friends the other night and not sure where I was going. My boyfriend called and asked where I was because I was running late....Im like "I don't know"....then I saw a sign and a gas station and told him. His response was stay right there, so I went in and used the restroom and got back outside, my car alarm started going off and then it got louder and suddenly stopped. About a minute later he pulled in and here I was all jumpy lol. After about ten minutes of trying to calm down he told me follow him. I was so thankful he came to my rescue :)

I'm really good at cooking. Seriously. I'm competition level good, but my misanthropy would preclude me making a career of being a chef anyplace.

I could compete on "Beat Shazam" and probably do really, really well. I don't like fame though, and being on television would freak me out.

I was/am really good at building sci-fi prop replicas, but working on commission and putting up with indecisive clients was enough to make me tear hair out. Not a worthwhile way to make money.

I am a wicked good rifle marksman. Better than anyone else I have ever met, and I've met some pros. Not much way to make money at it unless I wanted to be a merc, which I don't.

I'm really good at designing things. I have a binder of what I like and don't like when it comes down to home design. I also design the artwork that my nail lady does and she does a great job. The last one I had done was black and white polka dots with a cute little dragonfly on my ring finger and now I have red tips with ladybugs. I'm thinking next time is butterflies

I'm also a great cook and baker which I would love to do catering on the side at some point

i don't want to be rescued, i just want to be told right or left.
i'm a reasonably intelligent, capable woman, but i was born with no sense of direction.
sheesh! :)

i am, however, a pretty great bread baker, good with cranky people of all ages, and gifted in linguistics.
can't find my way out of a paper bag, but i have other skills. plus, you know, i'm adorable. lol!

I'm awesome at:
-seeing in the dark (your pet owl has nothing on me)
-picking up details about people that really don't matter (i.e. when I read books I can identify the favorite adjectives & verbs of an author because of the number of times he/she uses it- but I don't consciously do it)
-losing my keys repeatedly in one day. Except for now because right now they are in my pocket, no wait my purse, no wait the small glow in the dark saddle I knit for my cat, wait.....
-creating ridiculous songs that amuse only me

does your seeing in the dark include being a little over-sensitive to light?

nice list. :)

I'm good at getting to know people so well that they have very little thought privacy. I often tell them what they are doing and why. Freaks people out haha
