It was not that many years ago that I was a member of the local IBM User's Group. At one of our meetings, we were introduced to one of the latest upgrades of the x86 series. The 286 or 386, I believe it was. It opened websites at a new, blazing speed of only about two and a half minutes, on the average. We could hardly believe a computer could be so blindingly fast.

Waiting a few seconds is common for me because my whole system runs from a flash drive. Moreover it is a low-profile flash drive, sacrificing speed for convenience. I have a SanDisk Extreme, basically an SSD on a stick, but it sticks out much too far to be comfortable toting a laptop around with it sticking out of the USB port. The low-profile flash drive sometimes lags a bit with reading and writing to memory, so occasionally I have to wait for something to open.

And that's fine with me. Running the whole system from a stick is a lot more convenient than the alternatives.

I guess on a rainy day it is normal.
