Hey Everyone,
Lately I've just wanted to do a few simple demographic (why did I just try to spell that as "demon-graphic"?!) checks here in the good ol' Singles forum.
Now I realize that someone who's 25 and has had 4 relationships is probably in a very different place than someone who's 45 and has had 4 relationships, so I'm going to make an attempt to reflect that in the poll (which, like the other one I just wrote, will be multiple-choice and anonymous, so no one can see your answers.)
To be honest, I'm not quite sure how to set it up in a way that asks what I'm really trying to ask with this poll. It won't be perfect, so if anyone else here has experience with writing polls on this site (I'm looking at you, Zero! ) and has suggestions on how to improve upon this in the future, feel free to PM me with suggestions. (You really have to have tried writing polls here in order to know some of the in's and out's of how to work with them, and I would encourage anyone with an idea to go ahead and give it a try! )
I'm also always interested in how the definition of relationships has changed over time--even the term "relationship" doesn't seem have a standard, universal definition in today's world.
Some people will have a 6-month period of contact with someone they only talk to online and/or on the phone (and never meet in real life) but will count that as a relationship; others will spend every day with someone in person for months and yet never define it as being relationship material.
Please feel free to tell us how you personally define a relationship. Here are a few suggestions for topics of discussion:
* Do internet "relationships" count if you never meet the person in real life?
* Does spending a lot of time with someone in real life count as a relationship, or does it have to cross over into holding hands/kissing, etc., in order to "count"?
* What is your personal definition of a "real" relationship, or at least, one that you would "count" as qualifying for this poll?
As always, please give me a few minutes to write the poll... and thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts.
