I'd like to live up until the point when I'm no longer able to take care of myself. When I have to have someone wipe my own butt for me, that's when I'll think to myself "Yeah, I should have been out of here ages ago."

I went to visit my grandmother in a nursing home....
She couldn't even use the restroom with help. People there talk to her in a tone you would with babies.
Not to mention the neglect. She has bed sores and literally started crying because they were hurting her so much.
She's being moved out of there tonight but still.

I don't want to live to that point....
Even sitting in a different position in her wheelchair gets her out of breath....

Oh sorry to hear that, Natania. :( It always upsets me to hear of elderly abuse (the bed sores wouldn't have happened if they were taking proper care of her). I hope things get better for her soon.

The adult protection services have been contacted.
I know for a fact she's not the only one in there like that.
It's ridiculous. I had to leave before I started yelling at some people

I really don't want to die. I did want to die when I was 40 and tried to take my life but God said NO and now I'm 62 and have decided I don't ever want to die. Wouldn't it be fantastic to see the Lord come or go to heaven in a chariot of fire like Elijah? Enoch walked with God and He took him to heaven. So who says we have to die? I know the wages of sin is death but rules are made to be broken. Jesus paid the price.

Sorry did I Jesus Juke?

The age I would like to live to? The next one! :)

My grandparents all lived to their late 80's. My parents are still alive in their mid-80's (married 61 years and counting!). Given that, I suspect I have the genetics to make it to at least 90. I'm still adding things to my bucket list.

Some say it's all downhill from here. If that is true, why does it keep getting harder?

Currently the idea of living a long life is downright depressing.
Not only does it look like I will never get a long- term job, but I seem to be "inheriting" some of the few things that I don't want from my mother (joints starting to hurt in bad weather, occasional pain where I know the sciatic nerve is ,,,,,.)
...and the idea of a care home where I know there nurses have to be not only nurses but cooks, cleaners and clercs knows I mean they would never have enough time for all their patients.

I'm sorry you're feeling this way. I felt like that for several years... but what I learned is that if you hang in there, things will get better. God bless.
