Have you ever noticed that people often say one thing and mean another?

Examples :

She says : Nothing is wrong with me.
She means: Something is definitely wrong with me and you better find out what it is.

He says: No that doesn't make your butt look big.
He means : Yes your butt looks like a trains caboose but if you don't hurry and finish getting ready we're going to miss our reservations.

You say : Awww your baby is so sweet looking.
You mean: You sure that's a human baby ?

Mom says: I'll think about it.
Mom means: SUCKER ! I'm not giving it a second thought.

Mean , I know... but we've all either done it or had it done to us.

Got any other examples to share ?

What they say is: I think most people find somebody when they stop trying to date and focus on themselves.
What they mean is: Don't expect to find anyone soon the way you are now. You got some stuff to work on.

Teacher: Make sure you memorize the way plants convert energy.
Meaning: There'll be plenty of questions over this in the next exam.

Pastor: I'll try to wrap this up.
Meaning: It's gonna be another 40 minutes till the sermon is over.

Friend: This casserole looks delicious, but I'm full. I'll take some home.
Meaning: I'm not going to eat this! But I'll be polite and act like I will.

I just say "I'll get back to you directly", and then nobody knows what I mean or what I say...or something like that lol.

But of course, sometimes I'm sorta forced into saying somebody will be just fine, and what I really mean is...nah, you ain't gonna fix that, crazy creek residents rarely ever do lol.

I know I'm drifting off point here, but I rather be told the truth, and not a pretty lie.

If I was to see ugly baby, or kid I'm not going to say: "Oh that's a cute baby/kid." I'm also not going to say: "That's a ugly baby/kid." either, or tell someone I love there cooking when I don't, but I also wouldn't say :"you're cooking is awful.", etc, etc.

Yeah, I will not tell a "social lie" as they are called. I'll also try to head off situations where someone else might need to tell a social lie. (DON'T ask the house guest if they slept well! Do you ever sleep well in a strange bed?) It can get really sticky, though! I once had someone ask me point blank if I liked the salad they had brought. Now, this particular salad was terrible! The only thing that had saved me from running to the trash can and spitting it out was these little bits of crunch--I think they were green pepper or onion or something. So when they asked, I was able to say, "Oh, you brought that? What were those little crunchy things? Those were great." Because she was my sister in Christ, so it's not like I'm going to lie to her, but I really don't want to offend her, either! So the trick: look for the silver lining in the cloud and then you can answer about that ;).

You say: I disagree, but I respect your opinion.
You mean: My opinion is still of higher significance and importance than your lowlife thoughts.

What they say: I don't mean to offed you, but...

What they mean: What I am about to say is going to be offensive, but you can’t get upset because I said no offence.

What they say: "This product is guaranteed to last a lifetime!"
What they mean: "We never said which lifetime. The lifetime of this company will be just long enough to sell a lot of this junk, and then it won't be around to replace or refund your purchase."

They say:You are a really nice woman, but I can't see myself with you.
They mean: You are such a freak. I would be ashamed to be seen with you
