Hi I'm new here, I'm 22 years old and right now I feel very confused in my life... I want God to talk to me and tell me what my calling is because it isn't very clear. I keep asking God to speak to me because in my heart I'm struggling with everything in my life. Just want to know if anyone has any suggestions on how to find God's calling in your life or if anyone has any experience of the same situation..

Hello Sky, welcome to CC! I hope you enjoy your time with us :)
welcome.gif
Is there anything to which you feel particularly drawn? Do you have any interests or passions where you could invest your time to make a difference in the lives of others? Sometimes the smallest of things can make a huge impact on another person. For instance, a spontaneous smile can brighten another's day, and uplift them from their gloom. The things we do are not always big in our eyes, but may count for more to God in the grand scheme of things, such as giving a glass of water to a thirsty person. I suggest you try not to agonize over what to do. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step :) If there is something that needs to be done in your life, take steps to do it. If something draws you, take steps toward it. If you move in a direction that does not seem right, you will feel convicted about it, and can change your course of action and direction.

Welcome here you can discuss with bible smart people and possibly make new friends, hope you like it here!
Also you asks for suggestions as to what to start with concerning God's calling to you, well I would first suggest, taking for a just even for a few minutes to think in a quiet place, and calm yourself, think on things like what does God mean to you?
what can you do for him?
I understand your longing for God to speak to you,but it is best for you to first try to keep a calm fairly clear mind,to start understanding what God may be calling you to do,because "humbleness" is important to God,you may desire to speak with him but to understand what he says in any form of answering, you must keep your mind and heart open to God and be "vigilant" of what he may be trying to say to you, because if you are excited to help God that is a great thing but God needs for you to have a time to just be calm, vigilant, and patient when you seek an answer from God,so that you can "be aware" of what he says in some form of communication, and trust that God will answer you when you are "ready" for what he has in store for you, don't try to take on something before considering that God understands you want more purpose so as magenta stated take a few steps of faith for God,and in time you'll learn what God will have you to do,also keep in mind that what you see yourself doing for God may not be what God will have you do,just keep moving forward alongside God,and you "Will" find purpose through God,it may not necessarily be what you want to do but it will be useful for God and it will be something that will help you grow in the spirit, and as you do for God you will receive many great blessings, even blessings you never asked for,so just don't get discouraged and do what you can for God,and in time your "main" role will be revealed to you!

Hey!

glad to have you join cc

all of us may have a specific calling, but we also all have the same one too...

to become the salt of the earth, to be shining examples and glorify our Father in heaven

i think if you stay in the Word, and continue to pray and glorify God

what he wants from you will become more clear over time

Yes. Don't spend your life waiting.
Move forward. Pray that God will move and guide you along the way. So many people spend years doing nothing, waiting for some magic answer, doing nothing with their lives. I can promise that's not God's plan.
So go live life. Keep listening and willing to obey or follow. Let God bring things to you where you're at in life, rather than waiting for him instruct you.

Hmm...

People put a lot of emphasis on an official calling. In my experience there is no one certain day where God slaps you with a thunderbolt and says "THIS IS WHAT YOU DO WITH YOUR LIFE FROM HERE ON OUT!" Your calling is to be a child of God. Everything else that any christian does is an extension of that.

When I started going to church, my first calling (calling - something God wants me to do) was to repent, get baptized and get the Holy Ghost. (We're pentecostals.) Along the way I started typing the church bulletin because the lady who was typing it was also doing Children's Church, cleaning the church sometimes, playing the piano and doing a few other things. Then I started singing onstage during services. Then I started driving the church bus. Then I took over the sound booth, because I am a nerd and I like making all those machines work together.

Somewhere in all that God told me He wanted me to be a preacher too. That is something people usually recognize as a calling. To me it's no more or less than any other thing I do around the church or for the church. It's just one of the things I do for God, because God wants me to.

I recommend not getting hung up on callings. Just do what you can, where you can. You will find out what you are good at and what is needed for you to do. If you are up to help where you can, you don't have to find your calling. It will find you.

Consider for a moment the case of my grandmother. She's 85 and she talks a good line about being useless, especially when she gets tired and can't do what she used to be able to do. She has even flat-out said "I'm just no use anymore." But she's one of the best ambassadors our church has. She can sit down beside a visitor and strike up a conversation in her little-old-lady quiet voice and just chat away with perfect strangers. I only WISH I could do that.

Is that her calling? I don't know. She sees a need - "Those people are new here and somebody needs to talk to them, make them feel like somebody is happy to see them here" - so she goes over to talk to them. And she's pretty good at it.

Consider little Robert, the boy I pick up on the church bus route. He's... well, by one standard he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Physically he's 14. Mentally he's maybe 6. But spiritually he's older than I am. He's so in-tune with God that the pastor says when he wants to figure out which way God's moving in a church service, he looks to see what little Robert is doing. Also Robert brings to anything an enthusiasm that never stops. For spirit and a good attitude, he's one of the brightest lights in our church.

Does Robert have a calling? I couldn't say. He's not a preacher, not a singer, he doesn't really have an official job here at our church. But last Sunday when his family was out of town, our church just wasn't the same without him.

"But I can't talk to people like that." Maybe that's not your job. "But I can't sing, I can't preach, I can't teach a class, I can't..." Don't focus on all the things you can't do. Just do the ones you can do and your calling will find you.

I remember a time when i was in a similar "boat".

I always used to want Him to talk to "me" also. ....To give "me" the answers.

Yet, at that time...i "still" didnt know much about "Him". And i would "hear" and "see" nothing, from "Him".

Then... when i was at my very "lowest"... full of depression, suicidal (and all the rest of it ^^")..."He" put something into my head.

If i were to "try" and translate it...it probably would go something like this...

"Does the servant ring the bell, and the Master go to that servant?"

Then i realized... if i wanted answers....i needed to go to "Him". Coz a King doesnt leave His Palace...when a "peasant" beckons Him from the "village". But instead...the "peasant" ..."sets out" from the "village"...and prepares for his "journey" to the Palace...to "see" the King. ^^

And back then.....i had NO idea about who the King "really" was...what He liked, or what He disliked...nor where to find the "Palace" that He "dwells" in ^^".

Anyway... ill leave it at this...

The "more" u learn about "Him"...the "closer" u will get to "Him". And the closer you get to "anything"...Well.... then, u can "hear" and "see" that "thing" better ;)

I'm 62 years old and still trying to decide what to do when I grow up. You are doing well in your conversations with God in trying to figure out where you should be and what you should be doing. What I'm reasonably sure is that you will end up doing the work that your heavenly father has prepared for you beforehand. Glad to have you join us. Welcome to CC.

We can find in the Bible, calling for each Christian in the KJVMattew28:18-20 18. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:20. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and lo. I am with you alway, even unto the end of the World. Amen.

Another answer on your question,What is Jesus says, When we follow him he can make us fishers of men as he says Peter and Andrew his brother KJVMatthew4;18-19 18. And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea:for they were fishers. 19. And he saith unto them, Follow me, I will make you fishers of men.
