Hey Guys,
I'm just curious what your thoughts are on this topic. Should we as Christians participate in online dating or shy away from it like a plague???

Well... I don't think it should be completely shied away from... my dad met my step-mom on... i think it was loveandseek, and he hadn't been happy in a long time. The only reason I didn't approve was that they got married six months after meeting, and it threw me into being a big sister, but that's beside the point.

I honestly prefer the natural way, getting to be friends and maybe something more if God intends. But no, i don't think it's right or wrong... it's kinda like a friend setting you up with a blind date... only it's you setting yourself up with some not-as-blind dates...

Its got nothing to do with whether we're Christian or not. The internet is a medium everyone uses. Technology isnt a sin - its how you use it.
If you have commitment, trust and communication issues, dont bother. Long distance relationships are not for the faint hearted. You need to be incredibaly insightful and honest when exploring this as its very easy to lie casually over the internet. Have safety measures in place. If your a female and younger, demand that the other person prove themselves to you. Too much rape occurs regarding this and the lack of safety. Always be initially distrustful. Demand public 'room' conversations long before private messaging and demand video chat long before you hand out your phone number and address.

I should seriously publish a book on this topic lol Im like an christian online dating guru lololol

I think in some ways it can be better for some people. If your shy for example you can talk make contact easier and build up to meeting in person when hopefully they will be less shy. Also, it's a way of meeting other Christians if there aren't many in your area which is a problem many face including me haha As of yet I've never tried it though but I don't see nothing Un-Christian about it.
