Really, Magenta, you know your "winter" is rather pathetic by Canadian standards.

You're an old pro at writing threads, Zero! It would be a piece of cake for you.

And Lynx, sorry I didn't answer... As far as a cloak goes... I'd need to find a pattern first and take a look at it. Unfortunately, I'm not all that skilled--just basic things, really, and I'd get nervous about making something for someone from such a distance (meaning I couldn't do any fittings, though a loose-fitting cloak might be feasible.)

If you sent me some pics, I'd have to see if there are some patterns in existence that would be close to what you're looking for. I know some people who are so talented they don't even need patterns, and can pretty much improvise anything, but unfortunately, I'm not one of them.
I don't know any math questions to ask, unless they're pharmacy questions regarding reconstitution, admixtures, infusion rates, etc....

    Yes!

I always like noticing little things like this in ready-made clothing.

If the patterns are going different directions or if the prints/stripes/plaids don't match, this an obvious sign that the manufacturer was trying to cut costs, because it takes more time, skill, and materials to produce something that is of higher quality--and it shows.

I don't know any math questions either, obviously!

If we do start such a thread, I would have to admit to cheating--and pulling problems off Google.

Dino is correct We usually don't even go below zero Celsius (freezing point), and sometimes don't get much snow if any at all, but last winter we had snow snow and more snow over months, and it was seven below Celsius (nineteen degrees Fahrenheit) for quite an extended period. Very unusual for west coast/lower mainland winter weather, which is normally quite moderate.

Nah, I was kinda kidding. Well, half serious, half kidding, just in case you could... You mentioned you were sewing and if I had really been a lynx my ears would have gone BOING!

    Alas.

The project I'm working on shall just be a humble pair of shorts for the gym, but long enough to cover the assets without displaying and/or choking the buns (unlike any of the choices in the stores now days.)

I was just using velvet as an example of a napped fabric.

P.S. Love your attention to details, Chick!

Here is a story problem. Have fun y'all!

Kathy's Kandies features a mixture of chocolate creams and chocolate-covered caramels that sells for $9 per pound. If creams sell for $6.75 per pound and caramels sell for $10.50 per pound, how much of each type of candy should be in a 1-pound mix?

Molly, would you mind if I quote this and start a new thread? This is a cool idea and I don't want it to get lost or overlooked here.

You can always tell an alcoholic, but you can't tell them much

Or so I have been told

    Are you going to meetings?

I remember you mentioning it a while ago

I attend regularly, both AA and NA...

And since the topic is sewing, I have been meaning to ask you also:

What do you think of the assemblage point?
